Inspira’s Women’s Imaging Center in Mullica Hill Earns National Breast Imaging Accreditation

Certification Demonstrates Commitment to Early Detection and Quality Care

MULLICA HILL, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Inspira Health is proud to announce its Women’s Imaging Center at Inspira Medical Center Mullica Hill has been recognized as a Comprehensive Breast Imaging Center (CBIC) by the American College of Radiology. This national accreditation underscores Inspira's commitment to providing high-quality, comprehensive breast imaging services across the region.

The ACR, a respected institution comprised of radiology and radiation oncology experts, awards CBIC certification to breast imaging centers that meet requirements for equipment, medical personnel and quality assurance and achieve excellence across all voluntary accreditation programs, in addition to the mandatory Mammography Accreditation Program. This is the first time Inspira’s Women’s Imaging Center has earned this distinction, following its accreditations in mammography, stereotactic breast biopsy, breast ultrasound, including ultrasound-guided breast biopsy, and MRI.

“Our recognition as a comprehensive breast imaging center is a testament to the relentless pursuit of excellence by our MRI, mammography and ultrasound teams, whose collaboration has been key to achieving this accreditation,” said Lydia Stockman, Senior Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer for Inspira Medical Centers. “Their efforts to integrate advanced imaging techniques with personalized care allow them to detect and diagnose breast cancer at its earliest stages."

For Gloria Thomas of Pennsville, NJ, annual screening mammograms had been part of her yearly routine for more than 25 years. And beginning in 2020, she chose the Women’s Imaging Center at Inspira Medical Center Mullica Hill for her mammograms.

"They are polite and sensitive to my needs -- a pleasant experience," said Thomas.

In March of 2023, Thomas' screening mammogram led to a diagnosis of triple negative breast cancer, that was treated with chemotherapy, a partial mastectomy and radiation therapy. Throughout the process, the Oncology team at the hospital's Leading-Edge Cancer Center supported her every step of the way.

Now a little more than a year out from her last treatment, Thomas is back to her normal activities. And in May, Gloria will visit the Women’s Imaging Center for her post-treatment mammogram. At age 79, Thomas remains vigilant and hopes her experience will encourage women of all ages to get cancer screenings as recommended by their health care providers.
