Illuminating Success: Justice Design Group’s Journey to Efficiency and Growth through CMTC’s Custom Training & Consulting Services
LONG BEACH, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--California Manufacturing Technology Consulting® (CMTC) recently provided Lean Manufacturing training and consulting services to Justice Design Group (JDG) to help the company strengthen operations and expand capacity.
Established in 1985, Justice Design Group is a Los Angeles-based decorative lighting fixture manufacturer that designs and produces high-quality, clean-lined products for the residential, hospitality, and commercial settings. Justice Design offers a modular line of lighting products that artfully uses specialty materials with distinctive shapes and designs.
As Justice Design Group has grown, operations have become more complex. While scaling their manufacturing facility, Justice Design faced challenges in maintaining quality, optimizing processes, managing higher production demands, and training a growing workforce. In order to successfully scale the business and meet growing demand, JDG leadership decided to seek outside support and expertise.
CMTC stepped in to analyze Justice Design Group’s business and train staff on workflow and inventory optimization. CMTC’s expert consultants then trained JDG factory personnel in Lean and 5S workplace organization techniques, helping Justice Design to address complexities and quality concerns in their operations and ultimately improve their capacity to handle demand. In addition, CMTC helped Justice Design Group reorganize their warehouse to enhance efficiency and improve their On-Time Shipping (OTS) rate. With a more efficient use of space, Justice Design was able to reduce their 95,000-square-foot facility and rent out part of their building. To further improve Justice Design’s warehousing, CMTC conducted an ABC analysis, working with Justice Design Group to move their best-selling products closest to their order pickers and shipping department. Overall, the various customized training provided by CMTC has improved JDG employee leadership skills, performance, and morale.
As a result of their work with CMTC, Justice Design estimates a $600,000 increase in sales, $150,000 in cost savings, 3 jobs added, and 2 jobs retained. Justice Design also estimates a total investment of $225,000, including $25,000 in new products/processes, $25,000 in equipment, $75,000 in IT, and $100,000 in workforce development/employee training. CMTC’s long-term partnership with Justice Design Group has fostered trust between employees and CMTC advisors, paving the way for future collaboration in preparing Justice Design Group for ISO 9001 Certification and ongoing Continuous Improvement. “CMTC has been and will continue to be a long-term partner of Justice Design Group. We’ve worked with CMTC on numerous engagements over many years. As we have additional needs to further improve our operations and provide additional training in the future, we’ll certainly partner with CMTC,” said Brandon Levin, President of Justice Design Group.
