EVANSVILLE, Ind.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Metronet today announced the launch of its 100% fiber-optic network in Watertown and Le Sueur with the cities’ first residents and businesses now able to access the “Fastest Major ISP” named by PCMag. Metronet’s fiber-optic network will continue to expand in both Watertown and Le Sueur, providing more homes with access to speeds of up to five gigabits per second and more businesses with speeds up to ten gigabits per second. Using only fiber-optic cables, Metronet delivers internet service that is lag-free and symmetrical, meaning that the upload speeds are as fast as download speeds.
As Metronet’s construction progresses, customers will gain access to Metronet’s 100% fiber-optic internet neighborhood by neighborhood. Construction in Watertown and Le Sueur is expected to be completed by spring of 2025.
Residents and businesses interested in Metronet services may visit metronet.com/mn/watertown and metronet.com/mn/le-sueur to sign up for service installation or receive construction updates.
“Metronet is known for our lightning-fast speeds, customer service and reliability,” said Jill Cordes, Metronet regional vice president. “We can’t wait for our first customers in Watertown and Le Sueur to experience the internet of the future where connection speeds are so fast and reliable that buffering is a thing of the past, even during peak usage times.”
Recognized as the country’s “Fastest Major ISP” by PCMag two years in a row, Metronet will equip Watertown and Le Sueur residents and businesses with the fastest, 100% fiber-optic multi-gigabit speeds. With access to Metronet directly from their home or business, consumers will tap into symmetrical upload and download speeds, improving the quality of life online.
As construction progresses, Watertown and Le Sueur residents will continue to see Metronet trucks in the area. Residents will receive communication by mail about construction activity in their neighborhood 30 days prior to the start date. Additional notifications, such as yard signs, will also inform residents of upcoming construction. Metronet crews will be identifiable by ID tags and branded vehicles.
In addition to Watertown and Le Sueur, Metronet provides internet service to Rochester, Austin, Faribault, Lakeville, Northfield, Owatonna, Waconia, and other Minnesota communities.
