TeachMe.To Expands Coaching Marketplace into Canada, Connecting Beginner Athletes with Local Experts for In-Person Lessons

Leading Hub for Live Local Lessons Debuts in Calgary, Toronto and Vancouver; Teaching Pickleball, Tennis, Golf and More

TORONTO & SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--TeachMe.To, the lesson hub for beginners, today announced that it is expanding into Canada. The online marketplace, which connects learners with local coaches, is now available to athletes and enthusiasts in Calgary, Toronto and Vancouver, with plans to be nationwide by the end of 2024.

TeachMe.To makes skill acquisition easy and accessible for all types of learners, while also opening opportunities for knowledgeable and experienced athletes to monetize their skill set by sharing their sport with local beginners. The platform simplifies the process of finding and booking local lessons with the closest, most affordable and friendliest coaches. TeachMe.To currently offers lessons in pickleball, golf, tennis, and more.

TeachMe.To recently announced $2 million in seed funding, led by 1984 Ventures and with a syndicate of angel investors, including Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI; Ben Lauzier, former VP of Product & Growth at Thumbtack; Vivek Patel, former CPO at Yelp; and Brent Turner, President of Rover.

“Launching the TeachMe.To marketplace in Canada is an important first milestone in our international expansion plans,” said Nick O’Brien, TeachMe.To CEO. “Canada is passionate about their sports and leisure, and there’s a huge base of excellent instructors there looking to share their knowledge and insight with eager learners. We’re excited to make it easier for beginners everywhere to develop a new passion with local coaching.”

How it works:

  • Students can choose from a diverse selection of coaches in their area, most with their own introductory “Vet ‘Em Video” that shares their experience, qualifications, philosophies and reasons for coaching.
  • Reserving a private lesson at a local location can be done in just a few clicks and can be booked for a single session, or in heavily discounted Lesson Packs of 3 or 10 lessons, opening the opportunity for coaches to work consistently with the same students and see them progress.
  • Each lesson offers a “Love Your Lesson” money-back guarantee and comprehensive insurance, providing students with no risk option for getting started.

“TeachMe.To has made it simple for pickleball coaches to connect with local enthusiastic pickleballers looking to level up their game, and at the same time helped me pursue my interest in teaching this exciting and fast-growing sport,” said Toronto-based TeachMe.To pickleball instructor, Abhay Annaswamy. “I picked up pickleball during the pandemic and my way of giving back to the game is by teaching others to pick up the sport, while being a very gratifying way to earn some additional income.”

Launched in August 2022, TeachMe.To serves over 100 U.S. cities and has hundreds of lessons booked on the platform every day with an average instructor rating of 4.9. For more information or to get started visit https://teachme.to/
