NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Applecart, the leader in marketing to high value decision makers in government and business, is bringing on three Washington, D.C. heavyweights to assist with a rapid expansion of the business. Joining the company are Obama White House veteran Sean Sweeney, former Google and Twitter executive Peter Greenberger, and former Civis Analytics top survey scientist Masahiko (Masa) Aida.
“We are thrilled to welcome Sean, Peter, and Masa to Applecart at this exciting moment in our company’s history. As our platform increasingly becomes an indispensable tool for some of the country’s leading corporations, trade associations, nonprofits, and political campaigns, the addition of these talented, experienced leaders will take us to new heights in our mission to change the way organizations approach marketing to high value decision makers,” said Matt Kalmans and Sacha Samotin, Co-CEOs of Applecart.
Sean Sweeney joins Applecart as Senior Partner. For the past 20 years, Sweeney has been recognized as one of the country’s leading Democratic political strategists. Prior to joining Applecart, Sweeney was a partner at The Messina Group, co-founder and chief strategist of top Democratic SuperPAC PrioritiesUSA, Special Assistant to President Barack Obama and Senior Advisor to White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel, Senior Advisor to the Obama-Biden Transition, Executive Director of the House Democratic Caucus, Political Director at the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC), and a senior aide to Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and then-Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton. “I joined Applecart because I’ve seen firsthand the strong need that companies and advocacy organizations have to reach decision makers in government and business with their message. Applecart does this better than anyone. I am excited to be part of their team,” said Sweeney. Former Chicago Mayor and Obama Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel said of Sweeney, “Sean is one of the smartest operatives in the business. I’ve benefited from his wise counsel over many years and am confident that he’ll be a major asset to Applecart and its clients.”
Peter Greenberger joins Applecart as Vice President of Business Development. Greenberger’s career has spanned technology, media, and government. Immediately prior to joining Applecart, he served as Publisher of The Hill, the largest U.S. independent political website. Greenberger has also served as a senior executive at both Google and Twitter, starting and leading both companies’ D.C. sales teams. He is a veteran of both the Clinton campaign and White House. Greenberger commented on his recent move by saying, “Applecart has developed the most effective approach to reaching decision-makers that I've ever seen. I'm excited to be a part of a fast-growing company at the forefront of public affairs and marketing technology.”
Masahiko (Masa) Aida joins Applecart as Vice President of Analytics. A Tokyo native, Aida came to the United States with nothing more than the clothes and the pack on his back. Prior to joining Applecart, Aida spent nearly eight years at Civis Analytics, as one of the company’s earliest employees and leader of its survey research practice. He spent his early career as Chief Data Scientist at Greenberg Quinlan Rosner for another nearly eight years. “I am excited to work with the talented team at Applecart to help them scale their innovative platform and to the prospect of marrying the relational graph work they do with my experience designing large-scale survey research and randomized controlled trials,” said Masa Aida.
