Magellan Health’s Shareh Ghani, M.D., Named to Arizona Health-e Connection Board of Directors

AVON, Conn.--()--Magellan Health, Inc. (NASDAQ: MGLN) today announced that Shareh Ghani, M.D., chief medical officer of Magellan of Arizona, was recently named to the Arizona Health-e Connection (AzHeC) Board of Directors. The Arizona Health-e Connection is a public-private partnership that improves health and wellness by advancing the secure and private sharing of electronic health information.

Ghani is the chief medical officer of Magellan of Arizona, which has served approximately 20,000 individuals with Serious Mental Illness and more than 60,000 individuals with general mental health and substance abuse challenges, as well as children and youth. Prior to his time with Magellan of Arizona, Ghani worked in direct care, first as chief psychiatrist at a local outpatient clinic, and then as the medical director for the Maricopa Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) teams. Ghani has been the primary author of national mental health publications, and has presented at various national and international conferences. Ghani recently participated in a Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) work group on suicide prevention strategy and was one of the primary authors of the final paper. He was instrumental in developing the electronic health medical record system Claimtrak Clinical Advisor, which has been the electronic management platform for individuals served by Magellan in Maricopa County and the State of Louisiana.

Magellan Health recently announced its plan to relocate its headquarters to Scottsdale. Several executive leaders, including chairman and chief executive officer, Barry M. Smith, will be based there.
