GreenGasUSA and Darling Ingredients celebrate first pipeline delivery from Dublin RNG facility

DUBLIN, Ga.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--GreenGasUSA and Darling Ingredients Inc. (NYSE: DAR) today announced the first renewable natural gas (RNG) deliveries from a project located at Darling Ingredients’ rendering facility in Dublin, GA. The project leverages Darling Ingredients’ on-site wastewater streams to upgrade biogas to pipeline-quality RNG, reducing Scope 1 emissions while creating a new revenue stream for Darling Ingredients. The Dublin facility injected RNG into the City of Dublin’s natural gas pipeline this month for transport to customers in the voluntary offtake market.

“This is another example of how Darling Ingredients is challenging the waste mindset by taking methane from one of our wastewater treatment plants and turning it into a revenue stream,” said Randall C. Stuewe, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. “It’s a solution that benefits the planet by reducing emissions, while also supporting our business by creating value from waste, and reinforcing our commitment to sustainability – because what’s good for the environment is good for people and progress.”

This is the first RNG project to come online between the two companies focused on repurposing waste to produce renewable energy, providing significant local environmental and economic benefits. The two companies plan to expand this method of RNG production to other facilities, depending on feasibility and market conditions.

“We are incredibly proud to work with market leaders like Darling Ingredients to further integrate sustainability and circularity into their operations. The project in Dublin, GA, is an important milestone in a multi-site collaboration aimed at reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, supporting agricultural markets, and delivering renewable energy across the U.S.” said GreenGas Founder and CEO Marc Fetten.
