ASHLAND, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--KiddeFenwal, a world leader in designing and manufacturing industrial and commercial fire suppression systems and safety controls, has unveiled the AEGIS™-PHX Conventional Control Unit or the “Phoenix,” the latest iteration of its leading AEGIS™ fire suppression control unit. Newly offered under the Kidde Fire Systems brand, the product has been specifically enhanced for special hazard fire suppression applications requiring gaseous (chemical, CO2, inert gas), chemical (wet chemical, dry chemical) or water-based agents, keeping the needs and challenges of technicians and end users top of mind.
The Phoenix improves the flexibility and ease-of-use of its legacy unit through the addition of cutting-edge features. It boasts a 1,000-event history log with a real-time clock, automatically time-stamping events that triggered the release of fire suppression agents. It also features fully programmable Input-Output circuits, an enhanced user interface with a 4x40 LCD screen and advanced diagnostics capabilities. In addition, its 15 pre-defined configurations make sequence-of-operation selections for typical clean agent and low-pressure CO2 systems quick and easy while its PC-based configuration utility allows for more complex operation configurations.
The Phoenix is backwards compatible with current and legacy smoke and heat type fire sensors, notification appliances, and Kidde Fire Systems, Fenwal Protection Systems and Chemetron Fire Systems fire suppression platforms. The control unit is also compatible with water-mist and sprinkler solenoid releases. It is intentionally designed for “Plug-and-Play” retrofit with existing AEGIS™ installations and fits seamlessly into existing AEGIS™ enclosures, ensuring a short learning curve and reduced installation times. In addition, it includes an enclosure option with door-mounted controls that is less costly to install, offering a fully code-compliant system for facilities with tighter budgets and/or limited space. Like all KiddeFenwal control unit products, it features triple redundancy (Triple-R) safeguards, significantly reducing the risk of inadvertent activation of suppression systems.
“This exciting new Phoenix offering exemplifies KiddeFenwal’s enduring commitment to product innovation and our laser-like focus on the experience of technicians, operators and end users,” said Rachid Ouenniche, CEO of KiddeFenwal. “What’s more, it reflects the longstanding KiddeFenwal reputation for renowned reliability that has defined the company, the Kidde Fire Systems brand and its Detection-Alarm-Control product line for decades.”
Mr. Ouenniche added: “We look forward to bringing to market many more highly integrated, competitively priced, customer-supported fire suppression and safety controls that set the industry pace.”
KiddeFenwal unveiled The Phoenix at an event specifically designed for authorized distributors, including those offered the opportunity to test out the product prior to its launch. Already, the company has received stellar feedback about the new unit, with Colorado-based XDS Fire conveying that “it exceeds almost all expectations.”
Kidde Fenwal anticipates The Phoenix will be available for shipping by early November 2024.
