TORONTO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--PPG (NYSE:PPG) today announced the SICO™ paint by PPG 2025 Colour of the Year: Starry Night (6044-83), a deep purple hue that demonstrates the transformative power of colour found in nature. The selection balances warmth and energy to create dynamic yet inviting spaces.
“Starry Night invokes the depth and drama of the night sky, while also providing the comfort we get from knowing the same galactic events we see from our backyards are being seen by others around the world,” said Martin Fuchs, PPG senior marketing manager, Sico paint brand. “The Sico Colour of the Year has the authentic ability to connect us more to nature and each other in 2025.”
Sico colour experts suggest Starry Night for use in almost any space looking for high-impact energy, but they particularly recommend:
- Interior walls and trim – Starry Night can complement current maximalist design trends, including “colour drenching” a room from top to bottom in purple, pairing the rich hue with a bold wallpaper or tile pattern – or even using it on ceilings to emulate the night sky.
- Interior cabinetry – This hue can be used on kitchen or bath cabinets, pairing it with stainless countertops for a modern style, or using it as a backdrop for natural stone materials for a more organic aesthetic.
- Exterior doors – Starry Night invites guests to a welcoming home when used on a front door. The colour’s impact can be doubled by using a high-gloss sheen.
As the headline colour for the Sico brand’s 2025 palette, Starry Night pairs well with multiple hues from the lineup, including an earthy blush, Pink Adobe (6073-31); an organic gold, Soft Shell Clam (6193-53) and a warm gray with green undertones, Gray Area (6240-52).
Colours from the Sico’s 2025 palette can be tinted in any Sico paint line, but brand experts recommend the use of Sico PRESTIGE™ paint, a super-premium, stain-blocking interior paint and primer offering true one-coat hide* in over 1,000 colours and an ultrasmooth, stain- and scuff-resistant finish. Sico Prestige paint covers in fewer coats than any other Sico interior paint. It is low-odour, zero VOC** and certified for low chemical emissions. Sico Prestige paint is available in flat, eggshell, pearl and semigloss finishes.
DIYers can also benefit from one-coat coverage in exteriors by tinting any colours from the 2025 palette in Sico Super Premium Exterior paint.
Consumers can find Starry Night and the rest of the 2025 trends colours at a nearby store or by visiting Sico.ca, and can give any Sico paint colour a virtual try before they buy on a photo of their home by using the brand’s online Sico DECO COLOUR LAB™ software.
* Colourants added to this paint may increase VOC level significantly depending on colour choices.
** Only when tinted to colours from the Sico One-Coat Colour Palette. Certain colour changes, applications on porous substrates and differences in painting skills might require additional coats.
