1996 U.S. Open Winner Steve Jones Reinforces SHARx Movement to Lower Prescription Costs

ST. LOUIS--()--SHARx, a patient advocacy and supply-chain management company addressing the nation’s out of control drug prices, announced today that Steve Jones, an 8-time winner on the PGA Tour and the 1996 U.S. Open champion has joined the Rising Tides Army. SHARx’s Rising Tides Army is a booming grassroots movement in the healthcare space intent on reversing the overly inflated cost of prescription medications in America.

Jones, the latest guest on SHARx’s Rising Tides podcast, told SHARx CEO Corey Durbin, “My career in professional golf has taken me across America and all around the world. The disparity in access to lifesaving drugs in the country is out of control and I have proudly shared SHARx mission of ‘healthcare that works for everyone’ for the last two years or so. Formalizing it as part of the RTA is an awesome way to proclaim this message.”

Self-funded employers now find it increasingly difficult to offer health care that covers high-priced specialty medications and injectables. Specialty medications account for roughly 1% of volume, but over 50% of drug spend. Employers want their employees to have an advocate to help them source these un-covered drugs, and that is where SHARx shines on their behalf.

SHARx CEO Corey Durbin said, “Steve Jones is a man of integrity and honor. He wants to be a part of an organization that is changing people’s lives, and he wants to help us bring about needed change. We are honored that a man of his character has been espousing the virtues of SHARx for the last couple years and is now a huge part of our Rising Tides Army.”

SHARx helps employers ethically provide access for the employees and families through their use of a myriad of sourcing solutions. With fiduciary plan oversight lawsuits presently in the courts, SHARx allows an employer to do what employees want them to do – manage the out-of-control cost of their drug spend through world class supply-chain management and procurement.

Jones joins former U.S. Congressman Heath Shuler and former NFL quarterback Brock Osweiler, who joined the Rising Tides Army over the summer. The Rising Tides Army is committed to raising awareness of issues surrounding price discrepancies in life saving medications across the United States and advocating for solutions that will improve access to those medications by lowering the cost for Americans in need.
