“Envision clinicians stand ready 24/7, providing healing and comfort to patients and making a meaningful impact in our communities,” said Jason Owen, President and Chief Executive Officer of Envision Healthcare. “Our teams are solving some of healthcare’s most pressing challenges while improving the delivery of high-quality care. I look forward to supporting them as we deliver on our goals of being a valued partner, enhancing the quality of life and providing care when it’s needed most.”
Envision’s third-annual Clinical Impact Report illustrates the clinician-led team’s unwavering dedication to patients and significant contributions to healthcare. The report highlights everything from innovations in care delivery and the many ways Envision advocates for clinicians and patients to testimonials of Envision clinicians providing extraordinary care.
“The relationship between a patient and clinician is one that we revere deeply,” said Joshua A. Bloomstone, MD, MSc, FASA, SSGB, Chief Medical Officer of Envision Healthcare. “Patients entrust us to provide safe, high-quality, clinically appropriate care, and in each encounter, we are guided by our ethical responsibility to do what is best for them. In addition to treating patients’ unique and acute needs, we are delivering tomorrow’s care today. We are developing innovative care approaches that improve the patient experience and outcomes, contributing to clinical research and exceeding national quality benchmarks. It is a privilege to work alongside such a talented team, and I thank each member for who they are and what they do.”
Shared Commitment and Impact
As Envision clinicians worked to mitigate illness and make the world a healthier place in 2023, they cared for patients through the following:
- 19 million patient encounters
- 8 million emergency department encounters
- 6 million radiology reads
- 2 million inpatient encounters
- 2 million anesthesia cases
- 120,000 newborn deliveries supported
Care and Quality
Envision clinicians are transforming care by reducing clinical variabilities, identifying and sharing evidence-based best practices and enhancing the care experience for patients. In 2023, they continued defining care quality by developing two new Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS)-approved quality measures for palliative care and congestive heart failure. They have developed six CMS measures in the past three years. In addition, Envision’s Innovation and Research team participated in 30 investigator-initiated and Envision-initiated studies and produced 116 publications.
Connect and Empower
Envision is dedicated to caring for the clinicians who care for America. Through its systems-based clinician wellness program, Envision continued to address the increasing risk of burnout and mental health conditions among healthcare professionals and provide resources to support their evolving needs. Envision launched three new employee resource groups, adding to its previous four, as part of its initiatives to foster community. Envision believes clinicians play a crucial role in improving the U.S. healthcare system and patients’ access to quality, affordable care. With the Clinician Advocacy Champions Program, Envision empowers clinicians to engage in advocacy and speak with legislators on topics that matter to them and their patients.
Community and Compassion
Envision teams are sharing their time, knowledge, skills and resources with communities in need. Through the Global Health Initiative and the Envision Healthcare Charitable Fund, Envision teams provided care to more than 5,000 patients in the Dominican Republic, Honduras, Jordan and Zimbabwe. In addition, they provided medical supplies to medical personnel on the front lines in Ukraine and cardiology surgical supplies to Ukrainian hospitals. Envision teams were on the frontlines at home, helping their communities during devastating natural disasters like Hurricane Idalia in the Southeast and the Tornado in Tennessee. Many teammates continued their work with their local EMS agencies, providing clinical guidance, education and medical support to first responders and helping communities receive the most appropriate care in an emergency.
