DOVER, Del. & LOUISVILLE, Ky.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Division of Substance Abuse and Mental Health (DSAMH) of Delaware has selected Bamboo Health to implement its Behavioral Health Care Coordination Suite DTRN360 statewide. This move is part of a proactive response to the United States’ current behavioral health crisis, marked by record numbers of suicides and overdoses.
Currently, care for physical and behavioral health issues exists in isolation: there is a critical disconnect between medical services and behavioral healthcare services, creating significant obstacles to efficient and effective treatment. Providers have lacked a consistent communication channel, resulting in a fragmented approach to patient care. As a result, patients face excessive Emergency Department wait times, missed opportunities for treatment and increased risk of overdose or death from untreated substance use disorder. Siloed technology perpetuates the siloing of clinical care.
In response to this national issue, the Behavioral Health Care Coordination Suite or DTRN360 combines several key Bamboo Health solutions in one integrated platform to bridge the gap between behavioral and physical health, promoting improved patient outcomes and a more efficient use of healthcare resources.
"At DSAMH, our mission is to foster a healthier Delaware, and that includes tackling the urgent issues related to behavioral health,” said Joanna Champney, director of DSAMH. “Bamboo Health’s suite provides a powerful solution, giving our healthcare providers the tools and aggregated data they need to deliver integrated care for physical and behavioral health. It's a transformative step in addressing the health crisis our citizens face, and we're proud to take it."
DTRN360 ensures seamless continuity of care for patients by offering a platform for critical alerts, insights, referral tools and comprehensive data reporting. Bamboo Health facilitates streamlined communication for crisis management teams and patient referrals to inpatient and outpatient treatment options in real time.
By connecting primary and community providers with crisis teams and behavioral health providers within one workflow, the platform enables states to achieve optimal care coordination for better patient outcomes, streamlined whole person care and lower costs for payers. With detailed data reporting at the organizational and state level, the DTRN360 enables states to develop and support effective quality improvement programs.
The agreement between the State of Delaware and Bamboo Health builds upon the state's current use of several key Bamboo Health applications within the Behavioral Care Coordination Suite, including the statewide Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP) and OpenBeds®. OpenBeds, branded as the Delaware Treatment and Referral Network (DTRN), greatly simplifies access to mental health and substance use disorder care, by providing insight into local inpatient and outpatient bed availability, improving access to treatment. Delaware has used OpenBeds (DTRN) for the past 5 years, which will integrate into the Behavioral Health Care Coordination suite with the new agreement.
"Bamboo Health is thrilled to expand our partnership with the State of Delaware, which has a long track record of enabling providers to improve patient outcomes. They understand that integration of physical and behavioral health at the point of care is how you best influence health outcomes to get people better,” said Bamboo Health’s Chief Clinical Officer Nishi Rawat, MD, MBA. “By deploying our Behavioral Care Coordination Suite at the state level, we’re able to deliver whole person care to individuals, align care teams and reduce the total cost of care. Our focus remains on transforming healthcare to serve the needs of all patients more effectively and efficiently, and we’re excited our partnership with Delaware does just that."
