LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--PlayVS, the leading amateur esports platform and operator of officially sanctioned state high school leagues across the United States and Canada, today announces the appointment of Jon Chapman as the company’s new Chief Executive Officer. Chapman brings a wealth of experience in the education and technology sectors, having co-founded EverFi, a leading education technology company, where he contributed to its significant growth and success over the past fifteen years, including its $750M acquisition by Blackbaud at the end of 2021.
“I am thrilled to join PlayVS as its new CEO and look forward to building upon the remarkable work that Delane Parnell and his team have accomplished as pioneers in esports. I’ve admired Delane’s tenacity and perseverance and am excited to learn from him and continue this groundbreaking work,” says Chapman. “Throughout my career, I’ve been passionate about creating opportunities for students through education, sports and emerging technology. I am confident that my experience working with schools, families, publishers and professional sports leagues during my tenure at EverFi will further drive PlayVS’ mission of providing inclusive esports opportunities for an even greater number of students.”
A seasoned business leader with extensive experience working in the intersection of education, technology and sports, Chapman is uniquely positioned to catapult PlayVS into its next growth phase. At EverFi, Chapman successfully chartered an innovative business model allowing private sector companies to support education and diversity initiatives as part of their social impact commitments, lessening the financial burden for schools – particularly those in low-income and underrepresented communities. With his vast knowledge and established relationships with companies such as Electronic Arts (EA), the NFL, the NHL and other major organizations and sports leagues, Chapman is eager to usher in new ways to support PlayVS users and bolster PlayVS’ dedication to enhancing the esports experience for students and allowing them the opportunity to pursue their passions at a collegiate level.
Chapman’s previous leadership mirrors PlayVS' continued dedication to promoting diversity and inclusivity within the gaming industry. Chapman added, "I am committed to maintaining PlayVS' significant presence and diversity initiatives, and as PlayVS continues to scale, I am dedicated to creating more opportunities for students, regardless of geography, socioeconomics, gender or race."
With Jon Chapman at the helm, the company is firmer than ever in its promise to deliver excellence in high school esports and remains resolute in providing students a safe, inclusive and competitive platform. As the company enters this new chapter, the path forward is shaped by a continued commitment to its vision of enriching lives through esports – a vision Chapman is uniquely equipped to carry forward.
