ST. LOUIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Bluebird Network, a communications infrastructure provider and operator of two data centers and nearly 11,000 miles of fiber, recaps a successful 2022 on the heels of its acquisition of the fiber network assets from Missouri Telecom Inc. (MTI) in December 2022.
In October 2022, Bluebird Network’s robust fiber network went live in Salina, Kansas. Bluebird is offering secure and reliable connectivity to enable digital transformation for local businesses in Salina, Kansas. A new, diverse fiber route to Chicago is also underway with the expansions into Aurora, Dixon, DeKalb, Sterling and Rock Falls, Illinois.
In June 2022, the company’s fiber expansion in Waterloo, Iowa went live. Bluebird’s new network build has a Point of Presence (PoP) within the community, bringing the company’s full suite of services to local businesses and organizations in need of high-quality, high-speed connectivity. During the month, the company also announced it won the 2022 Visionary Spotlight Award for the second year in a row. Bluebird was recognized for its accelerated innovation to keep pace with the increased digital demand to provide and strengthen connectivity for underserved communities in the Midwest.
In March 2022, Bluebird Network finalized its ESG roadmap, developing a more structured and dynamic sustainability program, focused on achieving its goal of reaching net-zero carbon emissions by the year 2040. Bluebird’s net-zero initiative sets the direction and serves to support its employees, customers, partners, and communities across the Midwest, in taking responsibility to reduce its carbon footprint.
Following the acquisition and expansions in 2022, Bluebird will have added more than 520 route miles to their network – of which 290 are company-owned. The company is excited to continue momentum of even more fiber network expansions and densifications across the Midwest. Bluebird’s expansive state-of-the-art fiber footprint allows the company to bring dedicated internet access, Ethernet, colocation, cloud services and more to local businesses and organizations across the Midwest to enable digital transformation.
