CyrusOne Receives Approval of its Science-Based Carbon Target from SBTi

DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--CyrusOne, a leading global data center developer and operator specializing in delivering state-of-the-art digital infrastructure solutions, today announced that it has received approval of the company’s greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reduction target by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). This approval means that CyrusOne is doing its part to keep global warming well-below a 1.5°C warming scenario.

CyrusOne received approval and is committed to the target of reducing absolute Scope 1 (fuels) and Scope 2 (electricity) GHG emissions 38% by 2030 from a 2021 base year, and to measure and reduce its Scope 3 (supply chain) emissions.

“This is the next progression in our mission to reduce our company’s impact on the environment,’ said Kyle Myers, vice president of EHS&S at CyrusOne. “This target will launch us into the next phase of increasing renewable electricity, cutting our greenhouse gases, and shrinking our customers' carbon footprint.”

“I’m proud of the work our team has done to develop a plan to meet this ambitious goal,” said David Ferdman, President & Chief Executive Officer of CyrusOne. ‘Confirmation from the Science Based Targets Initiative is an exciting milestone and recognition that our team’s efforts to decarbonize are rising to the occasion for this important challenge.”
