ST. PETERSBURG, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Ascellus, the leading behavioral health platform focused on helping injured workers restore their physical and mental wellbeing, today announced that Martha Temple has been appointed as the non-executive Chairperson of the Board of Directors. Temple is preceded by W. Fredrick Uehlein, who served as Chairperson for the last five years.
Martha Temple joined the Ascellus Board of Directors in July of 2021 after serving as CEO of Optum Behavioral Health, where she spent five years directing the development of high-impact integrated behavioral health care. Temple’s career experience includes 25 years at Aetna, Inc. in executive management positions.
“Martha’s background is perfectly suited for the collaboration required between the CEO and Chairperson. She will help refine our ability to service our audience’s emerging needs and provide the highest quality, evidence-based clinical programs for behavioral healthcare in the workers’ compensation industry,” said Lori Daugherty, Chief Executive Officer of Ascellus.
Uehlein will remain an active member of the board and a consultant to the company, supporting Ascellus’s mission to further the integration of behavioral health care with care for physical injuries. During Uehlein’s tenure as chair, Ascellus leveraged his over four decades of experience as an attorney across all 50 states to help build Ascellus’s products and services for the particular needs of the workers’ compensation community. His experiences have assisted Ascellus in positioning itself as the only national network of behavioral health specialists who are dedicated to helping injured workers and their employers build a healthy and stable work environment.
“I have always been grateful to have helped shape the transformation of Ascellus from its initial concept to the broad industry offering it is today. I’m proud to pass the baton of leadership to a talent like Martha Temple and excited to witness the impact,” said Uehlein.
