Zayo Expands Fiber Network to Address Increasing Demand for Connectivity in Indianapolis and Fort Wayne

In Addition to Zayo’s Unmatched Global Network, Customers in Indianapolis and Fort Wayne Will Have Access to a New Product Offer That Provides a Superior, Secure and Affordable Internet Experience

BOULDER, Colo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Zayo Group Holdings, Inc., a leading global provider of fiber-based communications solutions, today announced continued investment and expansion of network infrastructure in Indianapolis and Fort Wayne, Indiana. Driving demand for connectivity is the region's growing tech sector and reputation as a business-friendly state.

At a statewide level, Zayo’s expansion plans include adding more than 200 route miles throughout Indiana over the next two years, including a new fiber route from South Bend, Indiana, to Grand Rapids, Michigan. By year’s end, a long haul dark fiber route from Indianapolis to St. Louis, Missouri will be available to new and existing customers, adding network protection on a key route between two emerging tech hubs. Additionally, starting in Q1 2022, Zayo will offer wave bandwidth up to 400Gbps from Indianapolis to Columbus, Ohio, and Chicago, Illinois.

Zayo is also rolling out a new product offer to new and existing customers in the region. The offer, called Shielded Internet Access, includes some of Zayo’s most popular services: Dedicated Internet Access, DDoS Protection and CloudLink, all within a single offer that will be competitively positioned against current market benchmarks.

“Indianapolis and Fort Wayne are homes to both major brands and local tech startups that are increasing area demand for reliable connectivity,” said Dan Stoll, Managing Director, Head of Regional Network Sales at Zayo. “We are committed to continued investment in the region to support customers’ demand for diverse, high-capacity fiber connectivity to enable their growth and ability to innovate. Zayo’s unmatched network combined with the Shielded Internet Access offer provides customers in the market with the bandwidth that takes them anywhere they need to be in the most convenient, cost-effective way possible.”

Zayo’s network expansion in the region is driven by growing connectivity needs from local businesses and large enterprises. Indianapolis has one of the strongest tech markets among mid-size cities with more than $7 billion in tech transactions. Halfway through 2021, the state surpassed its former annual tech investment record, bringing in more than $400 million, largely due to the relocation of several tech product companies into the Hoosier state.

“Fast, reliable connectivity is a major selling point when it comes to quality of life and bringing jobs—particularly tech jobs—to our community,” said Ellen Cutter, Vice President of Economic Development at Greater Fort Wayne Inc. “As we continue to build a nationally recognized economy in the region, we look forward to working with partners like Zayo to provide high-quality digital infrastructure for residents and businesses alike.”

The expansions in Indiana are part of an overall upgrade to Zayo’s U.S. in-demand markets and includes the release of custom solutions, bundling internet and security services and enabling dedicated internet service plus distributed denial of service (DDoS) protection. Zayo’s cloud-based suite of DDoS Mitigation Services provides advanced detection and mitigation technologies. The mitigation services offer three levels of tailored protection, providing important layers of defense and monitoring on Zayo’s international Tier 1 IP security enabled network. The unique solutions provide an enterprise-class network for superior performance and a comprehensive security suite, ensuring guaranteed network availability through Zayo’s Internet Access SLA.
