SALT LAKE CITY--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Spectrum Solutions, LLC today announced Bill Phillips, the company’s Chief Operating Officer, accepted an invitation to join the Board of Governors of the Salt Lake Chamber.
"We look forward to having Bill Phillips of Spectrum Solutions join our Board of Governors and appreciate the knowledge and expertise he brings to the Chamber,” said Derek Miller, president and CEO of the Salt Lake Chamber. “Bill understands, like all Chamber members, that business leaders must be contributors and creators, not simply beneficiaries, of an economic ecosystem that builds community prosperity.”
In this position, Phillips will add his experience of managing rapid growth and the challenges of scaling up companies to compete locally, nationally and in the global arena. He will work with other Utah business leaders to address issues impacting local businesses and communities at all levels.
“The Salt Lake Chamber is very progressive in its approach to helping develop, prosper and grow the technology, manufacturing, life sciences, professional services, retail and other sectors that make up the Utah business community,” Phillips said. “I am thrilled to serve alongside other business and community leaders to help bolster, support and further develop the business ecosystem in the Salt Lake Valley and throughout Utah.”
Phillips has received numerous national and local accolades and awards as founder and COO of Spectrum Solutions including being named a 2020 Utah Business Healthcare Hero and recipient of BioUtah’s 2020 Life Science Innovation Impact Award. In this past year, his visionary leadership was on full display as Spectrum took a global position in the battle against COVID-19 by offering the first FDA-authorized saliva-based diagnostic alternative to the painful nasal swab-based testing. Phillips directed the company’s expansion to meet new, global demands, scaling up manufacturing capabilities and growing the company from 60 employees in January 2020 to more than 850 at the end of 2020. His visionary efforts launched a chain of events that led to several leading-edge scientific innovations and clinical tests that have vastly expanded the diagnostic options of saliva including early detection of lung cancer, new multi-viral testing to include COVID-19 as well as any mutations, Influenza A and B, and more with numerous other possibilities.
