Froedtert and the Medical College of Wisconsin Health Network Expands Digital Health Options for Pregnant Patients with Babyscripts and Xealth

Combined solution offers providers increased visibility and improves patient engagement

MILWAUKEE & SEATTLE & WASHINGTON--()--The Froedtert & MCW health network has expanded its digital health offerings to pregnant patients through a new integration between Babyscripts, the leading virtual care platform for managing obstetrics, and Xealth, a leader in enabling digital health at scale. This clinical solution is the latest measure in Froedtert & MCW health network’s commitment to personalize and meaningfully improve the health and well-being of expectant moms and their babies.

In response to the COVID-19 outbreak, the Froedtert & MCW health network has increased enrollment in the remote patient monitoring solution to reduce the amount of in-person prenatal visits and advise pregnant patients remotely, when possible. Integrating Babyscripts via Xealth has accelerated the organization’s rollout of the virtual maternity care plan and given care teams new insight into patients’ program enrollment and engagement.

“The Froedtert and MCW health network has a strong track record of incorporating leading technology to enhance care delivery," said Dr. Seema Menon, obstetrician/gynecologist with Froedtert & MCW health network. “The recent coronavirus has increased the importance of using digital tools to provide expecting moms with the care they need, without exposing them to the unnecessary risk of an in-person visit. With Babyscripts deployed through Xealth, providers can monitor and advise patients remotely, keeping apprised of pregnancy progression without the patients leaving home.”

Since May, the Froedtert & MCW health network enrolled 79 patients for remote monitoring and 561 patients for education through the mobile app, which is a 27 percent increase from April. With this combined technology, physicians who are providing virtual maternity care can streamline patient enrollment, getting them easily onto the Babyscripts virtual care platform. Patients can share biometrics, like weight and blood pressure data, directly with care providers through their electronic health record.

“Streamlining the process of virtual care delivery brings us one step closer to access for all,” said Anish Sebastian, co-founder and CEO of Babyscripts. “By eliminating steps for the provider, this integration frees up providers to do their most important work, which is keeping patients safe and healthy.”

The integration between Babyscripts and Xealth provides a convenient option for Xealth customers like the Froedtert & MCW health network to access Babyscripts program management features easily and quickly from within their existing workflow, without having to execute and implement separate HL7 interfaces. A change from manual enrollment to automated enrollment frees up time for providers and improves patient engagement rates.

“As demonstrated through our ongoing relationship with the Froedtert & MCW health network across several specialties, digital health extends the doctor and patient connection, and introduces more convenience and flexibility into care delivery,” said Mike McSherry, CEO and co-founder of Xealth. “There is a great benefit to patients knowing that all care does not have to occur in-office. By ordering Babyscripts through the Xealth digital health platform, medical providers can streamline patient onboarding, improve engagement and gain insight into biometric data, which keeps them connected remotely and may inform care decisions.”

The Froedtert & MCW health network, a leader in digital health innovation, has been a Babyscripts and Xealth partner since 2018, and Inception Health Investments LLC, the hub for the Froedtert & MCW health network’s digital health services, is an investor in both companies.
