Healthcare Administrative Partners & Strategic Radiology–PSO Collaborate on Incidental Findings Communication

MEDIA, Pa.--()--Healthcare Administrative Partners (HAP), a comprehensive radiology revenue cycle management solutions provider, today announces their partnership with the Strategic Radiology–Patient Safety Organization (SR–PSO), operated by the Strategic Radiology coalition of quality-focused local, private radiology practices, to study and improve communication of incidental findings uncovered in the emergency department setting.

In early 2018, HAP launched its Deep Dive Analytics (DDA) service, an integrated clinical data analytics and business service that empowers radiology practice decisions and actions across a variety of critical performance areas. With a focus on incidental findings follow up, HAP’s DDA service is reaching patients who are at risk of falling through the cracks and missing recommend follow-up medical imaging.

In late 2018, the SR–PSO was the recipient of a $282,000 grant from the Coverys Community Healthcare Foundation (CCHF) to study methods involving patient notification of identified incidental findings on images acquired in the emergency setting. Strategic Radiology member groups willing to participate were quickly assembled within the SR-PSO, which then sought external partners to assist with this important process improvement effort.

According to Lisa Mead, RN, CPHQ, CHPC, Executive Director, SR–PSO, “The Strategic Radiology–PSO was impressed with the work that HAP has done to inform patients of incidental lung nodule findings, and we knew that they would be a good fit to help us with this initiative. We are confident that Healthcare Administrative Partner’s expertise in this area will positively impact our work and look forward to partnering with them in our efforts.”

HAP’s Chief Revenue Officer, Rebecca Farrington, states that, “We have been diligently focused on improving communication of incidental findings for two years, and this partnership marks an important milestone in our research. Strategic Radiology – PSO’s mission is specifically in line with our deliverable - ensuring that the gaps in patient communication are closed. We are excited to be working with Strategic Radiology – PSO and hope to make a positive impact on patient care.”

The participating Strategic Radiology practices will share the results of their efforts in late 2020.
