COSTA MESA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--In an effort to aid in the country’s re-opening efforts, Experian is making available a free interactive heat map of geographic populations at-risk of being most susceptible to developing severe cases of COVID-19. The Experian COVID-19 Outlook and Response Evaluator (CORE) tool is intended to guide healthcare organizations and government agencies as they plan for the “new normal” and coronavirus recovery in the months ahead. The map leverages de-identified data such as pre-existing conditions and social determinants of health to form a comprehensive picture that predicts possible pandemic impact on communities.
As organizations navigate many unknowns moving forward, the Experian CORE heat map offers a real-time tool to inform those efforts. It will assist with the following:
- Shaping communications and outreach strategies to reach high-risk populations, as well as align healthcare, community and government programs where they are needed the most
- Planning re-opening and recovery efforts relevant to quarantine and social distancing mandates at local, state and federal levels
- Informing decisions where CARES Act funds should be allocated to reach healthcare organizations with the greatest future risk of serving many severe COVID-19 cases
The map uses the following categories to model risk:
- Health: pre-existing conditions defined by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and World Health Organization such as people with chronic lung disease or moderate to severe asthma, severe heart disease, and those who are who are immunocompromised, among other conditions
- Demographic: includes age, gender, income and occupation
- Social: factors such as mobility, density and utilization of public transportation
“At Experian, we’re treating re-opening of communities and recovery from the pandemic as a global problem in which we need to put our best minds together to help people, healthcare, businesses and governments,” said Jennifer Schulz, group president, Experian Health, Auto, Data Quality and Marketing Services. “We’re offering these insights at no charge for the greater good of our community, and are pleased to add this tool among the many other initiatives and programs we’ve activated globally to assist during the crisis.”
Experian Health developed the map in collaboration with Experian DataLabs, its advanced analytics and development group, and Experian Marketing Services.
“The CORE heat map is an example of how in our global DataLabs we’re using artificial intelligence to analyze multiple data assets and identify those insights that can have the most influence on getting the outcomes right,” said Eric Haller, executive vice president & global head, Experian DataLabs.
