Revature Offers Free Coding Courses for Families of Essential Workers

‘Code First’ Initiative Launches to Give Back to the Heroes of COVID-19 By Providing 2,000 Hours of World-Class Technology Training to Their Loved Ones

RESTON, Va.--()--Revature, a tech career launchpad and the largest employer of entry-level technology talent in the U.S, today announced the launch of ‘Code First,’ a new initiative that will provide free, instructor-led virtual coding courses to the families of essential workers, enabling them to take the first steps toward a career in technology.

“Appreciation for essential workers - those who work tirelessly every day to care for the sick, respond to emergencies, keep food on our tables, and deliver critical supplies inspired us to launch Code First,” said Bob Gasser, chief revenue officer, Revature. “The future of work is going to rely on a massive workforce that is adept in coding and other core technology skills - and we hope that this program will help to create opportunities for the loved ones of these heroes and our community.”

Over the next eight months, Revature will donate approximately 2,000 hours of instructor-led, virtual coding training to essential workers, their families and others who have been impacted by COVID-19. Code First training will help participants gain experience in the latest enterprise-level programming skills while working on real-world project scenarios and advancing toward industry-recognized professional certifications. The first course will focus on Java skills and is scheduled to start on May 18th.

“During times of crisis, we are all called to give back to our communities and society - for Revature, that means creating pathways for individuals to gain the critical skills necessary to launching a career in the tech industry,” said Ashwin Bharath, CEO & co-founder, Revature. “At a time when unemployment has the potential to impact millions of Americans, we hope to play a small role in supporting the families of those who have made incredible sacrifices and contributions.”

Founded in 2003, Revature has launched more than 5,000 entry-level tech careers by hiring, training and deploying world-class talent for today’s leading brands. The company was built on the mission of bringing opportunity to ambitious candidates through world-class education, and to give people with the aptitude and attitude a springboard to a career in tech.
