TAMUC Partners with Revature for Technology Certification Opportunities

Texas A&M University-Commerce has entered into a partnership with tech career launchpad Revature to provide opportunities for upperclassmen to receive technology certifications.

RESTON, Va.--()--Revature is the largest employer of entry-level technology talent in the United States, providing services to Fortune 500 companies, government organizations and more. The company has trained more than 7,000 software engineers in 54 technical disciplines, and recruited talent from 700 universities in 48 states.

The partnership between Revature and Texas A&M University allows A&M-Commerce to provide technology certifications through the Revature Accelerator Program, which allows college seniors to attain the skills needed to embark on a fulfilling career in the technology sector.

This free program will be available to any A&M-Commerce student entering their final semester before graduation. Participants will primarily focus on the foundational coding and object-oriented programming concepts necessary to kick off a career in software development and engineering.

A 10-15 hour weekly commitment will be required for the entire semester to prepare for the final exam. Students will also become eligible for a placement bonus if they apply and are hired at Revature following completion of the program.

A&M-Commerce President, Dr. Mark Rudin, touted the partnership with Revature as something that can enhance the career readiness of students.

“We value and prioritize strong industry partnerships that boost our students’ career readiness,” Rudin said. “Our collaboration with Revature will provide important, hands-on coding and tech experience and great career opportunities for our students. We look forward to working with this impactful company.”

Dr. Yvonne Villanueva-Russell, dean of the College of Innovation and Design at A&M-Commerce, stated that this will be a great asset to students of all disciplines.

“The College of Innovation and Design is committed to the university’s strategic plan of student preparedness by offering workforce-leaning certificates and academic degrees,” Villanueva-Russell said. “Career Development serves as a bridge to industry for students across all of our academic disciplines. What is most exciting about this opportunity is that students in history, agricultural sciences, education or the STEM fields have an equal opportunity to participate in this program to broaden and add value to their education.”

Revature CEO, Ashwin Bharath, stated the company is ready to get to work.

“We are thrilled to be partnering with A&M-Commerce, a leading public institution in North Texas, and an area with tremendous demand for emerging technology talent,” Bharath said. “We remain committed to training the future tech workforce of tomorrow, and our partnership provides students with a unique opportunity to increase their employability and accelerate their career as tech professionals, while simultaneously completing their degree.”
