Bruker Showcases Expanding Microbiology & Infection Diagnostics Portfolio at ASM Microbe 2026

WASHINGTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--At ASM Microbe 2026, Bruker Corporation’s (Nasdaq: BRKR) Microbiology & Infection Diagnostics (BMID) division is demonstrating its expanding portfolio and innovations across microbial identification, sepsis diagnostics, molecular testing, and NGS workflows, advancing clinical research, and faster, actionable infectious disease diagnostics.

During the ASM 2026 meeting, Bruker showcases the expanded clinical capabilities of the MALDI Biotyper® CA System enabled by FDA Claims 7 and 8, supporting broader and more confident microbial identification in clinical laboratories. These enhancements include the MBT Compass® HT CA software, MBT FAST™ Shuttle US IVD, and an expanded FDA-cleared reference library covering 549 clinically validated microbial species across bacteria, anaerobes, and yeasts.

Bruker also highlights its focus on bloodstream infection and sepsis diagnostics, with a new vision to advance rapid antimicrobial susceptibility testing (AST) in clinical microbiology. Together with the MALDI Biotyper® CA System and the Bruker Arc™ automated sample preparation solution for positive blood cultures, this innovative rapid AST workflow under development is expected to enable faster, actionable diagnostics to support earlier clinical decision-making in critically ill patients.

Bruker also introduces multiple new solutions for the MALDI Biotyper RUO/GP systems to the U.S. market that were recently launched at ESCMID Global 2026, including the MBT Easy T® Kit (GP), MBT Compass HT RUO/GP v.500 with an expanded library covering 5,325 species, and the MBT HT Library Creator (RUO). The latest RUO/GP library expansion adds more than 600 new species, including ~30% improved coverage of filamentous fungi, addressing a challenge in microbiology. The MBT HT Library Creator (RUO) Module lets laboratories generate, manage and share custom libraries within the MBT Compass HT environment, for research purposes. New classifiers for the IR Biotyper® are also being introduced, further enhancing rapid outbreak investigation and surveillance capabilities.

These portfolio expansions are complemented by advances in next-generation sequencing (NGS) and molecular diagnostics. The MBioSEQ® Ridom Typer software (RUO) - being introduced to the U.S. market at ASM 2026 - supports reflex NGS testing as an extension of microbial identification and outbreak analysis workflows. Together, the MALDI Biotyper, IR Biotyper, and MBioSEQ Ridom Typer reflex testing form a cohesive workflow that enables laboratories to progress from identification to epidemiological insight and genomic characterization.

“We believe the future of microbiology lies in integrated innovations that can deliver faster, clinically actionable answers for some of the most critical patient conditions, including sepsis,” said Carla Schneider, Bruker’s Director Commercial Operations, Microbiology & Infection Diagnostics - Americas. “At ASM Microbe 2026, we are showcasing how our expanding portfolio and innovation pipeline are helping laboratories move toward faster decision-making - including the next wave of solutions for rapid positive blood culture analysis. This is reflected in our U.S. microbiology business, where robust demand for MALDI Biotyper and IR Biotyper solutions drove 140 new system placements in 2025, complemented by double‑digit consumables growth. We’ve seen this double-digit US growth momentum continue into 2026, with both systems and consumables performing strongly.”

At ASM Microbe 2026, Bruker invites attendees to discuss how our expanding portfolio and work-in-progress developments are shaping microbial and molecular diagnostics. For more information about ASM Microbe, visit https://asm.org/events/asm-microbe/home.
