Canadian NCAA Basketball Star Toby Fournier of Duke University stars as Roots first female Activewear Ambassador, Reinforcing Commitment to Women in Sport
TORONTO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Premium outdoor lifestyle brand Roots Corporation ("Roots" or the "Company") (TSX: ROOT) is proud to announce its partnership with Canadian NCAA basketball sensation and ACC Rookie of the Year, Toby Fournier of Duke University, as the first female ambassador for its Activewear category. This relationship underscores Roots commitment to supporting emerging female athletes and reinforcing the availability and breadth of its beloved soft, performance-based activewear.
As part of the partnership, Fournier will appear in sport-adjacent marketing content, representing Roots Activewear both on and off the court. This announcement follows Roots recent partnership with the WNBA and is an extension of the brand's historical relationship to sports. This investment in the next generation of female athletes is part of the brand’s ongoing commitment to broadening the playing field in athletics.
“Toby embodies the spirit of Roots: passion, resilience and an unwavering commitment to excellence. She is a true rising star in the world of women’s basketball, and as a brand that has always celebrated athletics, we are thrilled to have her join the Roots family. Through this partnership, we aim to inspire young athletes across Canada and beyond and share with more people the high-quality and thoughtfully crafted breadth of our activewear products,” says Leslie Golts, Chief Marketing Officer at Roots.
Fournier, known for her athleticism and natural talent on the court, shares her excitement about the partnership: “I’ve been wearing Roots since I was a kid, and it’s always been a brand that stands for quality, comfort, and style. For me, Roots represents authenticity and the freedom to move without limits. As I push myself to new heights in basketball, I’m honoured to align with a brand that values both innovation and purpose. I’m so excited to share this journey with the Roots community!”
By partnering with Fournier and the WNBA earlier this year, Roots continues to play a key role in outfitting athletes with high-quality, sport-inspired apparel and leather goods. It also highlights Roots dedication to supporting women’s basketball at all levels, from rising stars like Fournier to professional athletes on the global stage. By aligning with the WNBA, the brand is expanding its influence in the sports arena, reinforcing its commitment to empowering female athletes and their potential.
