SUSTAINABILITY MEASURES
Driven by a vision of change and a commitment to protecting Tequila's landscape, the Cuervo Akamba Festival promotes environmental awareness and responsibility through various sustainability initiatives, including:
- Sustainably constructing all production elements – including stage design and branded activations – using reusable and eco-friendly materials.
- Tracking the total carbon footprint of all production elements and compensating for it through several sustainability initiatives, including supporting projects that help recover natural environments in the state of Jalisco.
- Designing and applying a waste management plan, ensuring cans, cups, glass and cigarette butts are collected and hand-separated on-site during the festival, and all organic waste is processed and composted.
- Providing free water to reduce plastic consumption, as an underlying principle. In 2024, 2,318 liters of water were consumed by attendees – the equivalent of 6,530 single-use 355 ml water bottles.
- Utilizing eco-friendly packaging for food and beverage service, including cups and straws made from repurposed Cuervo agave fibers.
The sustainable efforts at the Cuervo Akamba Festival come as part of the long-term commitment Cuervo made toward creating a better, more sustainable future for agave – launched through “The Agave Project” by Cuervo in 2019. As the tequila that invented tequila, Cuervo aims to reuse, recycle and repurpose 100% of the precious agave plant and was the first company to compost the fibers from agave byproduct. The brand has created agave fiber plastic alternatives, including more sustainable straws, cups, bricks, car parts and more.
The Cuervo Akamba Festival offers an unparalleled experience for those looking to immerse themselves in a groundbreaking journey through music, culture, gastronomy and all that Jalisco has to offer.
