Warren Buffett’s Annual Shareholder Letter Spotlights Stephen Center and Demonstrates Exceptional Generosity

OMAHA, Neb.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--On February 22, 2025, Omaha nonprofit Stephen Center, which partners with individuals, families, and the community to overcome homelessness, substance abuse, and mental health challenges, was honored to be personally recognized in Warren Buffett’s annual shareholder letter.

“Mr. Buffett’s generosity is an extraordinary act of service to the community he holds dear, and his matching commitment ensures that each dollar contributed has twice the impact,” said Knauf.

In his letter, it was announced that this year Berkshire will offer a new history book 60 Years of Berkshire Hathaway at the meeting in May. The new 60th Anniversary Issue would honor and highlight material on Charlie Munger including photos, stories, quotes and more. Warren suggested he and Carrie Sova, a Berkshire alum and lead on the book project, co-sign copies of the book to raise proceeds for a local worthy cause. Carrie’s family, beginning with Bill Kizer, Sr., a long-time friend of Warren’s and Carrie’s grandfather, have been assisting our institution for decades. And from this came an extraordinary opportunity, there will be 20 signed copies of the book for shareholders who contribute at least $5,000 to benefit Stephen Center.

Further demonstrating leadership by example, Mr. Buffett has pledged to match every donation dollar-for-dollar, doubling the impact of each contribution. With this, donors are encouraged to consider giving beyond $5,000 to maximize this opportunity.

Due to overwhelming interest following this news, the Stephen Center is announcing a limited, advanced opportunity for donors. On Monday, April 7, 2025, half of the 20 individually numbered signed copies of 60 Years of Berkshire Hathaway will be available for donors who contribute at least $5,000 to benefit Stephen Center —providing supporters the chance to secure a meaningful piece of Berkshire history ahead of the annual meeting.

To participate, it is suggested that donors visit stephencenter.org/buffett and register for notifications concerning the time on April 7 the online portal will open as well as any other pertinent details or updates. Again, a minimum donation of $5,000 is required, with all funds matched dollar-for-dollar by Mr. Buffett —meaning the more you give, the greater impact you have in supporting Omaha’s most vulnerable residents.

This exclusive online release is expected to generate excitement ahead of the annual meeting, giving donors the opportunity to secure a signed book personally endorsed by Mr. Buffett while reinforcing the spirit of giving that defines Omaha.

“Mr. Buffett’s generosity is an extraordinary act of service to the community he holds dear, and his matching commitment ensures that each dollar contributed has twice the impact,” said Knauf. “We encourage those in a position to do so to think big when considering their support—knowing that their generosity will go even further in transforming lives.”

“Stephen Center remains committed to serving as a beacon of hope for those experiencing homelessness and is grateful for the generosity of leaders like Mr. Buffett who continue to invest in our city’s future and its people,” said Knauf.
