Industry-Leading Seniors Housing Advisory Team of Josh Jandris and Brett Gardner Joins Cushman & Wakefield

Duo has closed more than $15 billion in Seniors Housing Investment Sales

CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Cushman & Wakefield announced today that Josh Jandris and Brett Gardner joined the firm, with each serving as Vice Chair.

Industry leaders in Seniors Housing capital markets advisory, Jandris and Gardner have closed investment sales of Seniors Housing properties totaling more than $15 billion. Based in Chicago, the team will represent institutional and private-capital investors in dispositions across the gamut of the sector, including skilled nursing facilities, assisted living facilities, memory care facilities, independent living facilities, continuing care retirement communities and age-restricted communities.

“With Cushman & Wakefield, we can best tailor capital solutions for our institutional and private clients and their unique assets,” Jandris said. “We are perfectly positioned to guide clients as Seniors Housing investment grows amidst a deeper and broader pool of investors.”

Added Gardner, “Cushman & Wakefield provides the ideal platform to expand our business as commercial real estate capital markets – and Seniors Housing, specifically – gain momentum. The firm’s vision, resources and growth trajectory are a catalyst for our commitment to delivering unparalleled service representing Seniors Housing investors.”

With a combined 40+ years of Seniors Housing experience, Jandris and Gardner join Cushman & Wakefield, where they will continue to be a top performing team within commercial real estate’s Seniors Housing sector.

Their move comes on the heels of a banner 2024 for the industry. A late 2024 Urban Land Institute poll ranked Seniors Housing second as the most promising sector for risk-adjusted returns, while Seniors Housing trades worth $25 million or more were up 80% last year, totaling $6.24 billion amidst rising occupancy and rent growth.

“J.J. and Brett are the industry’s leading Seniors Housing investment sales team and a tremendous addition to our capital markets platform,” said Blake Okland, Cushman & Wakefield President of Multifamily Capital Markets. “Their addition is a prime example of our dedication to serving investors across the sector as they increasingly deploy capital into Seniors Housing and alternative assets.”

Added Miles Treaster, Cushman & Wakefield President, Capital Markets, Americas, “Josh and Brett demonstrate our commitment to growing our capital markets platform with the right expertise, and they deliver a proven track record of exceptional advisory services representing the industry’s leading investors. What’s more, they are integral to our broader growth plans both in Seniors Housing and across Americas Capital Markets.”

The addition of Jandris and Gardner also creates synergies with Cushman & Wakefield’s existing Seniors Housing capabilities, which includes Valuation & Advisory as well as Equity, Debt and Structured Finance teams. Additionally, this team will create synergies with Cushman & Wakefield’s joint venture with Greystone, a leading national commercial real estate finance company. Greystone is the No. 1 HUD lender* for healthcare and a leading finance firm for the U.S. Seniors Housing sector overall, offering a wide range of financing solutions including Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac and FHA/HUD loan programs, as well as bridge, mezzanine, CMBS and private label loan executions.

“This is a tremendous addition benefiting our clients in the Seniors Housing sector,” said Nikhil Kanodia, Greystone Head of FHA Lending. “Adding this industry-leading team perfectly positions us as a one-stop-shop to serve Seniors Housing investors’ investment sales, acquisition-financing, agency-financing and other needs. It’s a game changer for both our joint venture and the industry.”

*For HUD's 2024 fiscal year ending September 30, 2024. Based upon combined firm commitments received by Greystone Funding Company LLC and Greystone Servicing company LLC and excludes risk sharing and hospital loans.
