WNFC IX Cup Championship to Air Live on ESPN2, Aims to Set Women’s Tackle Football Attendance Record at The Star in Frisco

DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--In a landmark moment for women’s professional football, the Women’s National Football Conference (WNFC) IX Cup Championship game will be broadcast live on ESPN2 for the first time in league history. The game, scheduled for June 21 at 3 p.m. EST, will be played at The Star in Frisco, the world headquarters of the Dallas Cowboys.

The first-ever live linear broadcast of a WNFC game represents a major milestone for the league, reinforcing the rapid growth and increasing demand for women’s football on mainstream platforms. The broadcast also marks the latest expansion of the WNFC’s recently signed multi-year agreement with Victory+, a deal that provides unprecedented national and global exposure for the league and its athletes. Victory+ will produce the ESPN2 broadcast, delivering a world-class viewing experience and further positioning the WNFC as a leader in professional women’s sports.

As the WNFC reaches this broadcast milestone, it is also working with Augustine Agency, corporate sponsors, and the local community to set a new standard for attendance at a women’s professional football game. The league is targeting 10,000 fans at Ford Center, which would mark a record-breaking turnout and reinforce the surging interest in women’s sports.

“This is the moment we’ve been building toward,” said WNFC Founder and Chairwoman Odessa Jenkins. “The WNFC has always been about proving that women’s football belongs on the biggest stages. Our first live linear broadcast on ESPN2, paired with our record-breaking attendance goal, is a statement about the future of this sport. With the support of Augustine Agency, our partners, and the incredible local community, we are setting a new standard for what’s possible in women’s tackle football.”

The league’s commitment to growth and visibility is backed by a strong roster of corporate sponsors, including Dove, Adidas, Riddell, Victory+, Got Her Back, LaChica Sports, and Big Game. Dove will run a special commercial spot during the ESPN2 broadcast, reinforcing its partnership with the WNFC in advancing body confidence for women and girls in sports.

With anticipation building, the WNFC is launching a strategic marketing campaign, 'Football Looks Like This,' to drive ticket sales, engage local and regional sports fans, and amplify the excitement surrounding the event.

The championship game at The Star will provide an unmatched experience for fans in attendance and those watching across the country.

Tickets go on sale soon on SeatGeek and WNFCFootball.com.
