Mr. Stéphane Bérubé, President of L'Oréal Canada's Consumer Products Division Joins Aplantex's Advisory Board

MONTREAL--(BUSINESS WIRE)--"It is with great pleasure that we welcome a beauty expert to our Advisory Board in Mr. Stéphane Bérubé, President of L'Oréal Canada's Consumer Products Division," says Patrick Charest, B. Sc., P.Eng. and CEO of Aplantex.

With over 25 years of experience in an industry where innovation plays a critical role, Mr. Bérubé will bring his flair and lucidity to the development and execution of our initiatives to penetrate the beauty market, one of the key sectors where our unique process for producing essential molecules contributes significantly to achieving the objectives of the circular economy. Following his first steps in Procter & Gamble's marketing group, Stéphane joined L'Oréal, where he successively held the positions of Marketing Director and General Manager for the L’Oréal Paris brand in Canada. From 2013 to 2019, he successively held the position of Chief Marketing Officer for Canada and Western Europe. For the past 5 years, he has held his current role as President of the Consumer Products Division for Canada. Stéphane is known for his passion for innovation and technology.

L'Oréal has been working for many years to reduce its impact on the environment and make a positive contribution to society. Aware of the planet's limits, L'Oréal is working to improve its entire value chain: mitigating the impact of climate change, responsible use of water, protecting biodiversity, and good stewardship of resources. Among other initiatives, it uses regenerative practices to obtain its plant-based ingredients, ideally reducing the amount of agricultural land required. In addition, it regularly proposes formulations with enhanced biodegradability, which also encourages more conscientious use of water. Finally, by 2020, 11 of the Group's 26 plants were already carbon neutral, and all will be by 2025. In Canada, L'Oréal operates four eco-responsible sites for a sustainable future.

The circular economy, the cornerstone of Aplantex's process

Aplantex's green biotechnology industrial platform aims to produce in abundance, locally and in all seasons, in a controlled environment, the phytochemical ingredients sought by the cosmetics, natural health, agri-food, and pharmaceutical industries. Our proprietary photosynthetic phytoreplicators are the basis of a stable biomass produced in vertical hydroponics using a minimum of water and fed in a loop by a dosage of nutrient solution. The process uses renewable hydroelectric energy, produces no waste, and the plants capture and assimilate up to 40% of their dry weight in carbon from atmospheric C02. In this way, Aplantex contributes to the leading edge of the circular economy. "With Stéphane joining our group of seasoned advisors, we look forward to constructive exchanges," concludes Mr. Charest.
