HOUSTON--()--McNair Interests, the Houston-based private investment and management company, again underscored its focus on enhancing the quality of life in communities during its October 19th Community Investment Program “Day of Service.” Employees rolled up their sleeves and joined forces to combat sex trafficking through meaningful volunteerism in support of Elijah Rising, a Houston-based organization at the forefront of the battle. This was the second-year employees have chosen to support Elijah Rising’s mission to end human trafficking through prayer, awareness, intervention, and restoration.

The Community Investment Program includes a voluntary employee spring giving campaign, which the company matches, followed by a fall day-of-service at the employee-chosen non-profit. This year, the company once again gathered at Elijah Rising’s 84-acre Restoration Campus in Ft. Bend County and worked side-by-side with the non-profit’s staff to install 300 feet of 5-wire, barbed wire fencing, cleaned residences used for lodging, removed a broken panel fence, and completed much needed tree and shrub trimming. Employees previously installed 100 feet of water pipe and a culvert, built a woodshed over the water well, and paid for an automatic generator.

Over their two-year partnership, McNair Interests employees along with the company match have raised a total of $265,262.00 for Elijah Rising.

Giving back to the community is an integral part of our DNA,” said Cary McNair, CEO of McNair Interests. “We believe businesses can and should stand as meaningful support pillars for worthy community non-profits. Partnering with Elijah Rising has once again been a testament of our beliefs and a source of pride for our team, and we are immensely grateful for their efforts to stop sex trafficking in greater Houston and beyond.”

Our McNair Interests partnership has had a substantial impact on our anti-trafficking efforts in the Gulf Coast region,” said Micah Gamboa, executive director of Elijah Rising. “We are incredibly grateful for their support of additional beds for trafficking survivors, a desperate need in our community. Together, we have made great strides in helping shape a safer Houston.”

The Department of Homeland Security cites Texas as one of the nation’s top three sex trafficking states. In Houston, statistics such as nearly 300 prostitution-related arrests in early 2023 and estimates of more than $100M generated annually by sex trafficking illustrate the gravity of the issue.

Since 2016, the McNair Interests Community Investment Program has made significant contributions through employee and company donations and approximately 40 hours of on-site community service to The Brookwood Community, Chinquapin Preparatory School, the Salvation Army William Booth Garden Apartments, Kids’ Meals and Elijah Rising.
