Care Changes Everything: New Campaign Spotlights Health Insurance Providers Delivering Care and Coverage that Works

WASHINGTON--()--Never has it been more important that Americans have health care and coverage that works for them. A new education campaign from America’s Health Insurance Plans (AHIP) illustrates the important ways America’s health insurance providers are working together to deliver affordable and accessible care and coverage to millions of people every day when it’s needed most.

AHIP’s “Care Changes Everything” campaign is a national education program that shows how health insurance providers support the people they serve every day. It demonstrates the commitment of AHIP and its health insurance provider members to making care and coverage better, more affordable, and more accessible. The campaign spotlights the meaningful ways in which health insurance providers are standing shoulder-to-shoulder with the American people through these uncertain times and beyond. The campaign includes national television, digital, and radio advertising.

The campaign makes clear that care and support shouldn’t be something that's only there when you’re sick. Care should serve you every day and affordable coverage should always support those it serves, anticipating needs, constantly guiding people forward toward better health. The campaign depicts just how AHIP, and the companies it represents, believe that Care Changes Everything by:

  • Making COVID-19 tests, treatments, and vaccines affordable for everyone,
  • Protecting patients by covering pre-existing conditions,
  • Lowering the cost of prescription drugs,
  • Supporting Americans with community resources, social opportunities, and effective ways to improve their health, and
  • Supporting people who are struggling with depression, isolation, and hunger.

“Today, people need care and support more than ever before,” said Matt Eyles, president and CEO of AHIP. “Everyone deserves an advocate, a partner to support them, and someone who cares about their health as much as they do. America’s health insurance providers play that vital role, and together, we are working on behalf of people and their health care needs, no matter how small or large.”

Throughout the COVID-19 crisis – starting in its earliest days – health insurance providers have been supporting and caring for the American people: proactively covering COVID-19 tests at no cost; working with doctors and hospitals to speed their access to care and ensure that care is delivered in a safe, effective setting; expanding access to telehealth services and mental health care; and supporting families and small businesses in our communities, especially in communities of color.

Now as vaccines become more widely available, health insurance providers are playing a vital role in reaching out to Americans where they are, getting them reliable information, and helping them get these vaccines which are so vital to overcoming the virus. In addition, health insurance providers’ new Vaccine Community Connectors pilot initiative aims to enable the vaccination of 2 million seniors age 65+ in America’s most at-risk, vulnerable and underserved communities. They are working to reach this important goal quickly, depending upon the increasing availability of vaccine supply. The Care Changes Everything campaign will also highlight this work.

“America’s health insurance providers are supporting and caring for the people we serve during this critical time,” Eyles noted. “This is our mission and never has it been more important. Our campaign will highlight the individual acts of care we provide each and every day.”
