CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Treatail Inc. today announced a new way to shop online with the launch of its ecommerce buying platform that enables consumers to request discounts for desired goods. This first-of-its-kind platform gives online shoppers the ability to propose a lower price on the “view cart” page of any retailer’s website. Treatail then provides retailers the opportunity to accept or counter any consumer deal. Treatail thus allows customers to receive unpublished, personalized deals, while retailers benefit by increasing conversion rate, reducing cart abandonment, and streamlining inventory.
Founded in 2016 by Adam Selsby, a former online retail business owner, Treatail’s browser plugin is an easy and effective way for consumers to communicate directly with retailers. Retailers can move inventory by accepting discount requests for items in their store without diminishing the value of their brand.
“With Treatail, we’re trying to completely change the way people shop online,” said Adam Selsby, CEO and founder of Treatail. “When I was running my online retail business, I discovered my conversion rate was nearly 100 percent when a customer made direct contact to request a discount. The margin and inventory were there, but not enough consumers had the awareness, much less a tool to start that conversation. We want Treatail to be the conduit that connects shoppers and retailers to create better deals for consumers and increase sales for retailers.”
Currently, cart abandonment represents a large missed opportunity for ecommerce retailers, with more than three out of four carts being abandoned, according to a report by Statista. A study by FuturePay showed that price and unexpected costs are the top two reasons consumers abandon their cart. Treatail aims to bridge that gap to allow consumers to be more in control and secure the products and services they desire.
"Treatail delivers balanced benefits to both buyers and sellers,” Selsby said. “Online retail can be too complicated, and I think consumers express their frustration with their high rate of cart abandonment. Treatail is simple — let customers directly reach retailers and request the price they are willing to pay.”
Treatail is currently available as a browser plugin for Chrome and Firefox, with mobile apps for iOS and Android coming in the fourth quarter of 2017. The platform currently works on any retailer website with a shopping cart. Consumers can install the browser plugin by visiting www.Treatail.com.
