NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The National Kidney Foundation (NKF) announces that Lisa Estrada, senior vice president and chief compliance officer for Fresenius Medical Care North America (FMCNA), has joined the Leadership Committee for the New York City Kidney Walk to be held Sunday, Nov. 12, in Foley Square.
As a member of the Leadership Committee, Estrada will help call attention to the prevention of kidney disease and the need for organ donation, while encouraging participation in and support of the Kidney Walk. This year, FMCNA announced a company-wide national team in support of the National Kidney Foundation’s walks. By bringing together the collective power of Fresenius Medical Care employee volunteers under one National Team, the company enhances its ability to make a greater social impact on the broader kidney community. With a 2017 Kidney Walk fundraising goal of $250,000—the largest ever by a National Team—FMCNA intends to surpass the million-dollar mark in terms of total funds raised to date.
“Through my work at Fresenius Medical Care, I’ve seen the impact of kidney disease at close range and gained a true appreciation of the critical need for prevention and organ donation programs,” said Estrada. “I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to bring more focus and funding to these issues in my own community.”
For 16 years, the New York City Kidney Walk has served as a catalyst for uniting the kidney community. With more than 7,000 walkers in attendance, this walk has become a symbol of strength and hope for patients, their families and those at-risk. This year, the organization set a goal to raise a record $1,000,000 through the New York City Kidney Walk to make a powerful statement toward raising awareness about this disease.
FMCNA has 82 clinics in the greater New York area treating 7,956 patients.
