American Tower, H3C, InterDigital and Samsung Join the MulteFire Alliance

FREMONT, Calif.--()--The MulteFire Alliance, an independent, diverse and international member-driven consortium, today announced that American Tower, H3C, InterDigital Communications, and Samsung Electronics America, Inc. have joined the Alliance to advance MulteFire – an LTE-based technology operating in unlicensed or shared spectrum.

The MulteFire Alliance encourages innovation that eliminates the requirement for licensed spectrum,” said Mazen Chmaytelli, president, MulteFire Alliance and senior director business development, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. “We are excited to have these leading companies join us as we support the industry’s efforts to bring MulteFire products to market in the near future and enable new deployments such as private networks for industrial IoT.”

Thanks to its LTE-based design for handling interference from multiple users, MulteFire delivers key advantages in terms of capacity, coverage, mobility and reliability. The versatile technology can be deployed as a traditional access mode by a single network operator – an exciting development for enterprise networks seeking a robust, secure, and cost-effective solution.
