Chapman Eastway Names Clyde McConaghy as Chairman of Board

Internationally Renowned Business Executive and Family Office Leader to Serve as Independent Director of the Firm

SYDNEY--()--Chapman Eastway, one of the premier family and business advisory firms in Australia, today announced that Clyde McConaghy has been named Chairman of the Board.

McConaghy, who has more than 30 years of global business experience and family office expertise, is the first Board Chairman in the firm’s 119-year history. As a non- executive director, he will work with the firm’s partners and senior management, advising on business strategy, family wealth management and philanthropy for Chapman Eastway clients in Australia and Asia.

McConaghy serves an international company director and advisor to publicly listed and private companies, as well as family offices, foundations and not-for-profit entities. His career encompasses technology, publishing, venture capital, wealth management and online sectors, having lived in the UK, Germany, China and Australia.

McConaghy currently serves as non-executive director and Chairman of Remuneration & Nominations of Infomedia on the ASX, and Chairman of Audit & Risk for Serko, listed on the NZX. McConaghy also serves as a director of the Institute for Economics and Peace, at which he was the inaugural President and CEO of the Global Peace Index, and is a director and Chairman of the Investment Committee of the Neuroscience Research Institute of Australia.

Among other commercial appointments during his career, he was formerly Chairman of Audit & Risk of ASX-listed Integrated Research, and General Manager of The Economist Intelligence Unit based in London, and a founding director of the World Markets Research Centre on the LSX.

His philanthropic appointments have included the Steering Committee of Nexus’ Global Campaign for a Culture of Philanthropy, co-developing their Rules to Give By index in 2014, the first analysis of global charitable tax legislation in every country in the world. He also served as a Board Advisor & Investment Committee member to The Charitable Foundation, Australia’s leading Private Ancillary Fund focused on international aid, and a Board Advisor & founding Member of the Be Centre Foundation, which supports young children who have suffered mental or physical trauma.

McConaghy has an MBA from Cranfield University, UK, and a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of South Australia. He is a Fellow of the Australian and UK Institutes of Directors.
