DURHAM, N.H.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The University of New Hampshire InterOperability Laboratory (UNH-IOL), an independent provider of broad-based testing and standards conformance services for the networking industry, announced the latest updates to the Open Networking Integrators List. As well, the UNH-IOL shared details of its recent Open Networking Plugfest held at the UNH-IOL’s state of the art lab. Focusing on 100G switches, cables, and optics, the event offered a valuable, multi-vendor environment in which member companies could perform in-depth industry interoperability testing and confirm compatibility of open networking solutions. Attendees included 3M, Amphenol, Cumulus Networks, Edge-Core Networks, Finisar, Foxconn-FIT, Ixia, Mellanox Technologies, Siemon Interconnect Solutions and TE Connectivity. As a result of this plugfest, more than 25 new open networking configurations were added to the Open Networking Integrators List.
Held the week of August 8-11, 2016, the Open Networking Plugfest attracted a range of equipment and technology vendors. Products were tested in accordance to a test plan created by a community of stakeholders in open networking, against interoperability scenarios defined by technology end users. Many new product combinations were shown to interoperate according to the community defined standards. In addition, individual components were checked for conformance. All configurations that passed both interop and conformance requirements were added to the Open Networking Integrators List which now hosts over 70 open networking configurations that have been proven to be interoperable.
Commenting on the Open Networking program at UNH-IOL, JR Rivers Cofounder/CTO of Cumulus Networks said "The UNH InterOperability Lab plays a critical role in the networking ecosystem. It's non-partisan approach to ensuring that multi-vendor interfaces Just Work allows operators to build systems from lab validated configurations. We're proud to have over 50 verified configurations and many more pending. Cumulus Networks is committed to success of this program, and we leverage the UNH-IOL test results with all of our customers."
In parallel with the Open Networking Plugfest, the Open Compute Project Engineering workshop was also hosted at the University of New Hampshire campus where over 100 industry professionals came together to build the OCP technology portfolio, driving the productization of OCP specifications, as well as building out and addressing technologies for new sectors.
