WALTHAM, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--StudentUniverse, a Flight Centre Travel Group company and the world’s leading travel booking service for students and youth, today announced the winners of its second annual “Best Airlines for Students” awards. In addition to the five categories that airlines were awarded in last year, three new categories were introduced this year: The Best Airline for Students - Europe, The Best Airline for Students - North America and the Rising Star award, awarded to an airline that is emerging as a major player in the student travel space.
StudentUniverse works closely with more than 75 airlines globally to offer unique airfare pricing and terms to students and youth. The awards recognize airlines who are best serving students in specific markets, including the Trans-Pacific market, the Latin market and the South-Pacific market, overall and for group travel (booking for ten or more passengers traveling on the same itinerary as part of faculty-led programs or educational, study abroad and volunteer trips).
“The partners that we awarded as part of our ‘Best Airlines for Students’ awards program do more than just offer discounted flight content to students and youth, they truly understand how this segment travels, their preferences for travel at different times of the year and the kind of content that they need to offer student travelers as a result,” said Mike Cleary, Executive Vice President, StudentUniverse. “These airlines cater their programs to suit the needs of students and youth - including offering sale fares at specific times of the year and competitive one-way and bi-directional fares. We are proud to work with airline partners that go above and beyond for student travelers, and help us carry out our mission to make global experiences possible.”
Airlines were chosen based on the volume of bookings, year-over-year sales growth, the terms and pricing they offer to the student market and the extent to which they create special programs and fares that are conducive to the unique travel habits of students.
