Panasonic Announces Availability of Ruggedized Aero PTZ Camera at ASIS International 2016

Highly durable design reliably delivers outstanding image quality in wide range of environmental conditions

ORLANDO, Fla.--()--Panasonic, a leading provider of integrated security and video surveillance solutions, has announced availability of its rugged Aero PTZ (Pan/Tilt/Zoom) camera — the latest addition to its comprehensive camera lineup. The Aero PTZ (WV-SUD638) is a rugged PTZ camera designed for a wide range of extreme environments, providing Full HD surveillance images at 60fps and 30x optical zoom lens. The Aero PTZ is ideal for a variety of applications including ports, transit yards, airports, city surveillance, highways or any area or location prone to severe natural weather conditions or other factors that might wreak havoc on the operation and reliability of a typical video surveillance camera.

First unveiled at ISC West 2016 earlier this year, the Panasonic Aero PTZ network camera provides reliable and sustainable operation for mission-critical and other applications under severe weather conditions, from rain and snow to extreme temperatures and hurricane force winds. Its highly durable, 360-degree aerodynamic spherical surface design minimizes wind drag for heightened visual stability in high winds, and its special lightweight fiberglass body enables the camera to be especially resistant to salt-air corrosion conforming to ISO14993. Further, the cameras wide operating temperature and rugged construction means it is resilient in arctic-to-desert climate ranges. The Full HD Aero PTZ incorporates a Hybrid Image Stabilization system for exceptional image stabilization, virtually eliminating camera shake and vibration transmitted through mounting structures applications near heavy traffic. It provides an exceptional high-wind load durability, up to 135 mph, and can yield clear imagery with its optional long-range IR LED illuminator for superior performance in low-light to no-light conditions of up to nearly 500 feet.

Featuring a high quality 30X optical zoom lens, the Aero PTZ camera’s integrated image stabilization and gyro-sensor dampens out external vibrations form 1-30Hz, such as those found in ports, piers and bridges. It also conforms to IP67 Ingress Protection (IP), which means the camera can sustain submersion in water for a short period of time. Aero PTZ’s built-in wiper keeps the lens clean in rain and snow and it also includes an integral heater to keep internal electronics operating at optimal temperatures, as well as a defroster to keep the viewing lens clear.

“With factors as unpredictable as weather, there’s no better way to reassure customers that their mission-critical surveillance solution will survive severe weather or extreme climates than to let the product speak for itself,” said Charlie Hare, Panasonic’s National Category Manager, Security and Mobile Video Solutions. “The Aero PTZ performs at its best despite the harshest environments and weather extremes, while reliably producing sharp, crisp images, stabilized from high winds and vibrations.”

Other key features of Aero PTZ include:

  • Multi-stream H.264 Encoder with Smart Coding
  • Super Dynamic function ensures a wider dynamic range compared to conventional cameras
  • Sphere Vision 3D viewing provides 360-degree continuous panning up to 200-degrees per second and +/- 90-degree tilt range
  • Flexible power options include 100 to 240 volts AC or PoE (60w)
  • Wind load durability, up to 135 mph (operation) to 180 mph (non-destructive)
  • Fully water and dust proof conforming to IP67, NEMA -4X compliant and IK10 environmental specifications
  • Operates in extreme hot and cold conditions from -58 °F to +140 °F (-50 ºC to +55 ºC)

The Aero PTZ, now available for delivery, will be on display at ASIS International 2016 with mounting brackets and power boxes, showcasing solutions for a variety of applications.
