HAYWARD, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Golden State Warriors swingman Andre Iguodala will play alongside 2013 NCAA Champion and former University of California-Berkeley star Max Homa during Wednesday’s Pro-Am at the Web.com Tour’s Ellie Mae Classic at TPC Stonebrae.
The duo of Iguodala and Homa will be joined by Ellie Mae President & CEO, Jonathan Corr, as well as other Ellie Mae customers and partners participating in the event.
“We are ecstatic to have Andre Iguodala in our Wednesday Pro-Am,” said Ellie Mae Classic at TPC Stonebrae tournament director Trish Gregovich. “The Golden State Warriors have been an inspiration to many in the East Bay area, and his participation will help to further elevate the excitement for this tournament as we enter our seventh year.”
Iguodala, a member of the Warriors since the 2013-14 season, was named NBA Finals Most Valuable Player during the team’s remarkable run to the championship in 2015.
The 32-year-old was an All-Star selection in 2012, and was named to the NBA’s All-Defensive Team twice while splitting time between roles as a small forward and shooting guard. In 2012, Iguodala represented the United States in the Summer Olympics, where Team USA was victorious in capturing a gold medal.
"We're thrilled to participate in the Ellie Mae Classic,” said Warriors Community Foundation Executive Director Jose Gordon. “The Web.com Tour and Ellie Mae share our vision of positively impacting the community, and Andre will be joined in the Pro-Am by members of our ownership group, coaching staff and front office. With the Warriors Community Foundation selected as the tournament beneficiary, we’re honored to help develop the Bay Area’s premier golf event.”
Homa spent four years as one of the Golden Bears’ top performers, winning the 2013 NCAA Championship as an individual while earning first-team All-American honors as a senior during one of the best seasons in program history.
The 25-year-old split time between the PGA TOUR and the Web.com Tour over the last three years, winning twice on the latter. Homa claimed his inaugural title at the 2014 BMW Charity Pro-Am, then won again last month at the inaugural Rust-Oleum Championship outside of Chicago.
Iguodala, Homa and Corr are slated to tee off at 12:20 p.m. (PST) on Wednesday. Media is invited to join for the Pro-Am with viewing capabilities from the Ellie Mae Sky Box on the 18th green.
The tournament will begin on Thursday morning at TPC Stonebrae, with 156 players competing for a $600,000 purse. Past winners of the Ellie Mae Classic at TPC Stonebrae include PGA TOUR winners Tony Finau (2014), Daniel Chopra (2011) and Kevin Chappell (2010), who is currently No. 8 in the TOUR’s FedExCup standings with four top-three finishes over the course of the 2015-16 season.
