U.S. Patent Issued to TM Technologies to Further Protect New Foundational Modulation Technology

TUCSON, Ariz.--()--TM Technologies, Inc. (TMT) has been issued a new U.S. patent to add to its portfolio of intellectual property (IP) protection for its proprietary Transpositional Modulation (TM) technology, a new technical method for enabling wireless signals to carry information. TM was invented by Richard C. Gerdes, Chief Scientist and Technology Officer for TMT.

The patent, U.S. Patent No. 9,014,293, pertains to the company's new, inflection-based quarter-cycle waveform technology, which will be implemented in products slated for release this summer.

"This builds on Rick's long history of patented innovations and adds substantial heft to our IP portfolio," said TMT CEO Daniel Hodges.

Patented Technology to Ease Bandwidth Crunch, Increase Wireless Corporate Asset Value

"The technology behind this new patent will enable TMT's products to ease the coming wireless bandwidth crunch and to increase corporate asset values for most firms in that tech sector," Hodges said.

A major 2015 study on the bandwidth crunch (also referred to as "spectrum deficit") was prepared by wireless think tank -- The Brattle Group -- and is available at this link (.pdf).

Hodges said that bandwidth shortages would seriously harm many prominent technology sectors including telecom, e-commerce, IoT, WiFi, cloud computing and more.

Forthcoming products from TM Technologies substantially ease a bandwidth crunch by more than doubling the capacity of every wireless channel worldwide, including mobile phones and WiFi as well as broadcast bands used by industry, media, law enforcement, emergency and military devices.

Products Decades in the Making

"It's taken literally decades to develop TM and several years for us to bring this year's products to fruition," Hodges said. "That long path has not been without its surprises. We were about to release our first product back in 2014. That was an advanced satellite modem utilizing TM to more than triple QPSK data rates. But right before we finished that product, Rick's engineering team had a breakthrough and designed the next generation technology that convinced us to scrap that product in favor of a new, more efficient design."

As a result, TM Technologies began turning the new design into products at the same time Gerdes finished the application for the current patent. Numerous additional patents related to that technology were also filed and are pending, both in the US and internationally.
