Virtustream Appoints New Executives to Accelerate Global Growth

Following most successful year to date, company names new COO and head of global markets to drive worldwide expansion

WASHINGTON--()--Virtustream, the enterprise-class public cloud provider and EMC company, today announced the appointment of two new executives. John Hill has joined the company as chief operating officer, and Simon Walsh moves from an executive position at EMC to assume the role of Virtustream’s managing director, strategic markets. Both executives will play key roles in helping the company continue to increase its share in the global enterprise class cloud market as it aims to achieve multiple hundreds of millions of dollars in revenue in 2016.

Hill, who will report directly to Chief Executive Officer Rodney Rogers, brings more than three decades of enterprise experience to the company. He will oversee the company’s full revenue cycle, including professional services, cloud platform delivery and global data center operations. Hill has extensive experience working with multi-billion dollar, global enterprises to achieve IT transformation. Prior to Virtustream, Hill was global chief information officer and head of global shared services at Veyance Technologies, where he was a customer of Virtustream. He has also served as CIO and chief technology officer at Siemens IT Solutions & Services in North America, as CIO for Praxair one of the largest industrial gases companies in the world, and as CIO for Perkin Elmer / Applera. He holds a Bachelor of Arts from Princeton University.

“I’ve known Virtustream for a number of years now and am thrilled to be joining at such an exciting moment of growth,” said Hill. “The global enterprise class cloud market is just coming into its own and this company is positioned to significantly expand its market share. It’s an impressive team with a proven track record, and I look forward to being a part of it as we continue to scale worldwide.”

Walsh, who will also report to Rogers, will lead Virtustream’s global efforts to progress its global go-to-market (GTM) growth agenda. Walsh was formerly senior vice president and chief operating officer for EMC EMEA, responsible for delivering growth through meeting the needs of EMC’s customers and driving transformation across the region towards a consultative solutions capability. He is also chairman of the Directors’ Forum Alumni, a not-for-profit organization focused on the development and preparation of non-executive directors through an alliance between Spencer Stuart and the London Business School. Walsh has also held senior leadership roles at Colt Technology Services and Computacenter UK, Ltd.

“Every customer is looking to the cloud for cost-savings and agility,” said Walsh. “Virtustream is uniquely positioned to enable enterprises worldwide to migrate and manage complex, mission-critical workloads in the cloud.”
