INDIANAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Interactive Intelligence Foundation, a nonprofit corporation whose mission is to use resources and funding to foster life improvements for at-risk youth, has named its 12 grant recipients for 2016 fund allocation.
The Foundation, the charitable arm of customer engagement cloud services company Interactive Intelligence Group Inc. (Nasdaq: ININ), selected its grant recipients based on their alignment with its mission and the impact their project will have on at-risk youth.
“We received 149 deserving grant applications, and only wish we could have said yes to them all,” said Joe Adams, Foundation president and Interactive Intelligence senior product manager. “To our recipients, we are grateful to help such worthy and diverse organizations, and hope these grants will create added opportunities for disadvantaged youth locally and around the world.”
The following organizations are the 2016 Interactive Intelligence Foundation grant recipients:
- Chaucie’s Place, Carmel, Ind. (http://chauciesplace.org/). Provides services to victims of sexual assault and other life crises.
- Children’s Friend, Providence, R.I. (http://www.cfsri.org/). Provides programs for child advocacy, family support, mental health and child development.
- Christel House Academy, Indianapolis, Ind. (http://chacademy.org/index.html). Provides education to an underserved population in Indianapolis.
- Girls Inc. of Greater Indianapolis, Indianapolis, Ind. (http://girlsincindy.org/). Provides educational programs to empower girls to be strong, smart and bold.
- Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana, Indianapolis, Ind. (http://www.gleaners.org/). Secures, stores and redistributes donated food to 350 Hunger Relief Agencies throughout Indiana.
- Happy Hollow Children’s Camp, Indianapolis, Ind. (http://www.happyhollowcamp.net/). Offers a summer program to economically disadvantaged and certain special needs children from Indianapolis and Central Indiana.
- Informatics: Diversity-Enhanced Workforce (iDEW) Indianapolis, Ind. (https://soic.iupui.edu/idew/). An innovative, year-round, dual-credit multifaceted information technology program for high school students.
- Indiana Blind Children’s Foundation, Indianapolis, Ind. (http://indianabcf.org/). Provides programs and services that enable children with visual impairments to thrive in school and daily life.
- The Julian Center, Indianapolis, Ind. (http://www.juliancenter.org/). Provides support and services to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and other life crises.
- PennyLane Centers, North Hills, Calif. (http://www.pennylane.org/). Provides an array of children’s social services, including residential care, transitional housing, foster care, and more.
- Teach for America Indianapolis, Indianapolis, Ind. (https://indianapolis.teachforamerica.org/homepage). Services and programs that enlist, develop and mobilize the nation’s most promising future leaders, to grow and strengthen the movement for educational equity and excellence.
- TRAC SA, South Africa (http://www.trac.sun.ac.za/). Provides programs that encourage students to enter careers in science, engineering and technology
Grants provided to these recipient organizations will be used for a variety of purposes, including summer STEM education programs, summer camp funding for economically-challenged and visually impaired youth, a mobile STEM classroom, weekend food supplies for in-need youth, and other hands-on learning programs.
The Interactive Intelligence Foundation distributes the funds it raises to a small number of not-for-profit organizations whose missions are aligned with the mission of the Foundation. It raises funds through corporate donations, an annual fundraising event, and through employee and “friends of the foundation” contributions. The Foundation has raised more than $1.5 million since inception, which has helped more than a dozen charities in Indiana and throughout the world.
