LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--TechCrunch today announced 15 finalists for its third Hardware Battlefield, taking place at International CES 2016 in Las Vegas. Hopeful founders began submitting their hardware companies last fall for the opportunity to launch at the consumer electronics industry’s biggest event.
Modeled after TechCrunch's popular Startup Battlefield, the Hardware Battlefield gathers emerging hardware companies to demo on a worldwide stage. Competitors have mere minutes to pitch the judge's panel all for a shot at a $50,000 prize, a Hardware Battlefield trophy and exposure at CES and online to a global audience. To date, Battlefield contestants have raised more than $5.7 billion after appearing on the Battlefield stage.
The Hardware Battlefield stage is in the entry hall to the Sands Expo at CES, where there is no need for a CES badge to attend. Visitors can watch the competition live at 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday and the finals at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. At-home viewers can watch the event live on TechCrunch.com and on go90. The winner will be announced from the TechCrunch stage at the Las Vegas Sands during a closing ceremony at 4:00 p.m. local time on Friday afternoon, January 8.
"We're proud to recognize some of the most innovative startups from around the world to our Battlefield stage at CES,” says Ned Desmond, COO of TechCrunch, “and share the experience with our global audience through the livestream of the event.”
