BOCA RATON, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--gMed, a Modernizing Medicine company and developer of the gGastro electronic health record (EHR), endoscopy report writer (ERW) and the fully integrated gPM practice management systems, today revealed its customer, Covenant Surgical Partners, agreed to continue implementing gMed’s gastroenterology-specific software and financial system across its enterprise. This announcement follows last year’s acquisition of gMed by Modernizing Medicine, Inc., the creator of the cloud-based, specialty-specific Electronic Medical Assistant® (EMA™), as well as the news that gGastro was selected as an alternate solution to Olympus’ EndoWorks platform, which is being discontinued.
Covenant Surgical Partners is a privately held owner and operator of ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs), anatomic pathology laboratories, anesthesia entities and physician practices across the country.
Prior to implementing gMed’s gGastro clinical system, Covenant had been utilizing a less specialized ambulatory surgery system across its enterprise. According to Jeff Fisher, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for Covenant, “To facilitate growth and set the stage for the future of the company, our leadership team felt it was imperative to have a more robust and efficient system to enable workflow efficiency and allow for more streamlined processes.”
“The relationship with gMed has expanded well beyond software and services. The strategic visions between both companies have proven to be well aligned,” said Chris Oubre, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, at Covenant Surgical Partners. “Our team has such a comfort level that gMed is set to grow and evolve parallel with Covenant’s growth, that not only did we implement the gGastro EHR system, but we’re also going to deploy the practice management suite across our enterprise and utilize the specialty-specific revenue cycle management services.”
“Being able to implement a truly integrated clinical and revenue cycle management system has always been our goal,” said Todd Shafer, Vice President of Information Services for Covenant.
Modernizing Medicine supports the efforts of gMed, the gastroenterology EHR system market leader acquired in September 2015. The company’s gGastro EHR system has earned Black Book Rankings’ award for Top Ambulatory EHR for gastroenterology for five consecutive years, and combined with gMed’s integrated practice management system, patient engagement platform, data analysis and benchmarking tool, offers a complete gastro-specific suite.
“Covenant Surgical Partners is an excellent model of the work gMed has been striving to accomplish – better physician workflow that ultimately leads to positive patient outcomes and a healthy business,” said Joe Rubinsztain, MD, president of gMed.
The ever-changing healthcare environment with PQRS, ICD-10 and outcome-based reimbursement protocols can lead to compliance issues and loss of revenue for many practices. The Covenant and gMed relationship is built on trust, integrity, a history of responsiveness to compliance and business changes, as well as the strategic vision and relationships between the management teams. With the combination of gMed and Modernizing Medicine’s gastroenterology-specific healthcare technologies, physician partners of Covenant Surgical Partners have the tools to navigate through industry changes.
gMed and Modernizing Medicine representatives will be exhibiting at HIMSS16 where attendees can see gMed’s award winning gGastro Suite and Endoscopy Report Writer at booth #12229. HIMSS16 is taking place at the Sands Expo and Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nev., from Feb. 29 – March 4, 2016. You can learn more about the conference here.
