LAS VEGAS & ARLINGTON, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--CyberVista, a wholly owned subsidiary of Graham Holdings Company and sister company to Kaplan, Inc., will make its official debut today during the first-ever CES CyberSecurity Forum at 2016 CES in Las Vegas. CyberVista, a cybersecurity education and workforce development company, aims to create a cyber-ready workforce through personalized training programs that provide organizations with the people, knowledge and skills required to defend their most critical assets.
“We see an enormous opportunity in cybersecurity education and workforce development,” said Timothy O’Shaughnessy, president and CEO of Graham Holdings Company. “There is a documented cyber workforce shortage that continues to grow. With the strength of our company coupled with the world-class education expertise gleaned from Kaplan, CyberVista is well-equipped to meet this critical need in the market.”
CyberVista’s approach to cybersecurity education will draw upon Kaplan’s deep expertise in personalized learning, assessment, and online delivery coupled with curricula developed by elite cyber intelligence professionals.
“As organizations increasingly rely on technology for all aspects of their operations, their risk for cyber attack grows significantly larger,” said Amjed Saffarini, CEO of CyberVista. “Cyber threats are becoming more frequent and more sophisticated, as are the security products and technologies designed to protect against them. However, technology tools alone do not alleviate the problem of unsecured processes and people.”
“We believe that a well-trained force of security professionals working together with cyber-literate executives and security-aware employees is an organization’s most critical line of defense. We intend to deliver the education and training required to create that kind of workforce.”
CyberVista’s initial product offering, unveiled today, will provide corporate board members and executives with a comprehensive understanding of cyber issues that affect their organizations and impact overarching business risk, as well as the tools to oversee and manage those cyber risks. The program can be customized and will be delivered in different modalities including in-person, online and recorded sessions.
“The financial and reputational losses associated with a cyber breach create significant risk for businesses. Absolutely no one is immune,” added Saffarini. “With the appropriate training and cyber oversight tools, corporate board members and executives can help companies more effectively navigate this volatile environment and reduce the risk impact of a brand-damaging incident.”
In addition to the board and executive training curriculum announced today, CyberVista plans to introduce a cybersecurity certification preparation program for practitioners and IT professionals, as well as a continuing education program for practitioners already in the field or looking to get into it.
CyberVista is supported by an advisory board of leading cybersecurity experts including; Stacey Halota, Vice President of Information Security and Privacy, Graham Holdings Company; Tom Kellermann, Chief Cybersecurity Officer, Trend Micro; Robert Lenz, Senior Advisor, Cyber Security Consulting Group; Vince Ponzo, Senior Director at Eugene Lang Entrepreneurship Center at Columbia University; and Richard Wilhelm, Senior Executive Advisor, Booz Allen Hamilton.
