LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Hisense, the multinational consumer technology manufacturer and one of the largest television brands in the world took the stage at 2016 International CES to announce the Company’s largest foray into the U.S. market to date, and to demonstrate innovations in display technology across the television, connected home and medical industries.
Though global TV shipment has fallen 4.5 percent year-on-year, Hisense has successfully increased its global market share by 5.8 percent. Specifically, maintaining its position as the leading television brand in China for the past 12 years, and emerging as the number-two TV brand in South Africa and number-three TV brand in Australia* have catapulted Hisense to the number-three TV manufacturer position globally**.
This rapid growth is a credit to Hisense’s five percent annual investment in R&D, agile and adaptable approach to technological innovation and commitment to industry-leading customer service that ensures consistent value is provided to consumers.
“Hisense (in Chinese denoting ‘trustworthy’ and ‘open like the seas’) truly embodies the values of honesty and humbleness in our internal culture, and these values guide our interactions with our consumers, customers, partners and processes,” said Jerry Liu, Chief Executive Officer of Hisense Americas. “With our global and local R&D capabilities we are able to adapt and advance upon new technologies faster than competitors; providing consumers with exceptional, high-quality technologies at more affordable price points.”
Hisense further elaborated on its plans to achieve the number-three TV position in the U.S. over the next three years. Key to this growth are major sports sponsorships to increase brand awareness and equity, including NASCAR, and increased community involvement in locales. Hisense will also be expanding its U.S. based R&D teams, which already lead all Smart TV platform development for North America.
Breakthrough technologies from Hisense will continue to challenge and shape the consumer technology industry, including 4K Laser Cast, a panel less TV that has the potential to change the face of TV altogether; a connected smart home platform that brings Hisense innovations together under a central hub for the consumer; China’s first independently developed color TV graphics chip, Hi-View; and the company’s latest advancements in medical imaging display technology.
LASER CAST: CHANGING THE FACE OF TV
Intrigued by the changing content consumption experience consumers are demanding and an “on-the-go” lifestyle that was created by smartphones, Hisense has been exploring technology to change the face of TV viewing all together – with panel less TV. Without the cumbersome bulk of a panel, TV can be consumed anywhere.
The Hisense Vidaa Max Laser TV, launched in 2014, first brought this technology to life.
Sitting only inches from a wall, Laser Cast is less like a TV and more like an in-home cinema marvel. Capable of projecting an image equivalent to a 100-inch HDTV with 40 percent less energy, the Laser Cast throws an astounding 2,500 lumens, and even with the lights on, is bright enough to show true color and rich contrasts. Wi-Fi capabilities and a color gamut that reaches 82 percent of the NTSC color standard the Laser Cast turn any room into a stunning theater.
Hisense announced that details around a 4K version of Laser Cast would be available in Q2 2016.
CONNECTED HOME ECOSYSTEM
Smart Home by Hisense is a multi-faceted system enabling the home management of Hisense products, whenever and wherever.
Through wireless protocols like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and ZigBee, it allows customization of household devices produced by Hisense, such as refrigerators, air conditioning and lights. Smart Home by Hisense also facilitates media sharing between the television, smart phones and tablets and includes security features to protect and monitor the home.
HI-VIEW PRO: CHINA’S FIRST INDEPENDENTLY DEVELOPED HDTV GRAPHICS CHIP
Hisense unveiled China’s first independently developed color TV chip, Hi-View, in 2005 and in 2015 announced the first Hisense smart television featuring the new Hi-View Pro chip. The innovation, which demonstrates Hisense’s display technology development capabilities, is the result of the industrial production of core electronic devices, high-end generic chips and basic software in China.
The latest version, the Hi-View Pro graphics engine (HS3700) significantly improves the dynamic range of the LCD TV screen as well as the dynamic contrast ratio, color gamut, definition and fluency of movement using multi-dozen autonomous algorithms. With 40 nm lithography, the processing chip results in extremely low energy consumption.
ADVANCEMENTS IN MEDICAL IMAGING DISPLAY TECHNOLOGY
Display technology goes beyond entertainment and advancements in graphic processing have the ability to save lives in the operating room. Hisense showcased a first-of-its-kind medical image processing system for biliary and pancreatic surgery that provides efficient, precise and compact 3D CT graph and surgery solutions to reduce surgery risk and bleeding.
The system is the first computer-assisted product that can be used for pediatric biliary and pancreatic surgery. Another innovative application of this technology is the use of the device as a 3D CT graph and printer – to directly and instantly print analysis results, with no data conversion necessary.
Hisense also creates a wide variety of color, grayscale and multimodality diagnostic displays that are used for diagnosis and consultation, clinical applications and endoscopic surgery. These monitors build on Hisense innovations to include excellent video quality with high megapixel resolution and peak bright; DICOM-compliant color and grayscale definition; wide viewing angles; multi-point touchscreens and high-energy efficiency.
Hisense will demonstrate the future of display technology in booth #8152 at the Las Vegas Convention Center during 2016 International CES.
