LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--2016 CES — Chamberlain Group, Inc. announced today at the 2016 International CES, the next phase in its Works with Nest (www.nest.com) relationship, bringing Nest Cam video to the Chamberlain® and LiftMaster® MyQ apps. While MyQ has always alerted users to garage door activity, with a Nest Cam in the garage or the home, users can now see live video the moment the garage door is activated.
Through MyQ’s Account Linking, MyQ and Nest Cam give busy families even more awareness of important moments at home. Connecting MyQ with Nest Cam puts the power of home security in consumers’ hands so they can view home activity while experiencing greater peace of mind. Consumers can see moving images and video feeds of family members, neighbors, dog walkers, babysitters and others entering or leaving the home as scheduled, or whenever activity is detected. They can also confirm whether the garage door is open or closed, all from a mobile device.
From within the MyQ app, consumers can:
- Monitor home activity with live video every time the garage door opens or closes.
- Get MyQ alerts when Nest Cam has detected motion in the garage or at home – wherever the Nest Cam is placed.
- Access both MyQ and Nest Cam from anywhere within one smartphone app.
- See time-lapse video clips and event history with a Nest Aware + Video History subscription.
“The garage door is the gateway to the family home, and the combination of garage door control, alerts and live video feeds offers LiftMaster customers new levels of awareness and peace of mind when away from home, provided by trusted LiftMaster Dealers,” said Juan Lopez, Director of LiftMaster Connectivity. Cory Sorice, Vice President of Marketing, Connected Products and eCommerce, Chamberlain Group, Inc. adds, “Because most consumers begin and end their days coming and going from the garage, MyQ is a natural launching point for many connected devices throughout the home, including Nest Cam and the Nest Thermostat.”
Chamberlain has been working with Nest since 2014, and integrates seamlessly with the Nest Learning Thermostat. Through this relationship, MyQ allows users to easily and quickly set their Nest Thermostat to “Home” and “Away” modes from within the MyQ app. When people open the garage door upon arriving home, MyQ users can set their Nest Thermostat to “Home” mode, and when they close the garage door on their way out, the thermostat can go into “Away” mode so they don’t waste energy heating or cooling an empty house.
Connected Cities
Consumer adoption of connected devices is on the rise, with 69 percent of consumers planning to buy an in-home device by 2019. Because of that growth and popularity, Chamberlain calculated a unique engagement score based on consumer interaction with the brand’s connected home products, features and partners. As a result, Chamberlain identified the cities across America that have embraced connected home technology.
The Top 10 Connected Home Cities include:
1. Houston, TX
2. Las Vegas, NV
3. San Jose, CA
4. Chicago, IL
5. Phoenix, AZ
6. Austin, TX
7. Minneapolis, MN
8. Denver, CO
9. San Diego, CA
10. San Antonio, TX
Surprisingly, tech-savvy San Francisco didn’t make Chamberlain’s list as it comes in at #15. Other notable cities that fell short from making the top 10 include Denver, CO (#11), Miami, FL (#20) and Los Angeles, CA (#39). Chamberlain’s research also found that the state of Wyoming had the least connected homes, with 25 of its cities falling at the bottom of the list.
