CHICAGO--()--UHC announced today the winners of the 2015 UHC Supply Chain Performance Excellence Award, UHC Supplier Diversity Leadership Award, and UHC Sustainability Award at the UHC Annual Conference 2015 in Orlando, Fla.

“We commend these academic medical centers for their strong commitment to delivering greater value through their supply chain management strategies,” said Jake Groenewold, senior vice president, Supply Chain Services. “UHC’s membership comprises the highest-caliber academic medical centers in the nation, making it quite a distinction to be named a Supply Chain Performance Excellence Award winner. These organizations exhibit practices that serve as a model for our industry as we continue to be challenged to generate greater quality and efficiency across the continuum of care.”

The UHC Supply Chain Performance Excellence Award uses a unique methodology, which analyzes data from the UHC Operational Data Base, along with data from members’ CMS cost reports, to measure supply utilization at the facility level and across select clinical service areas.

This year the award methodology was refined to ensure the use of operational metrics that are considered most relevant to the evaluation of overall hospital supply chain performance. The methodology included metrics for overall supply utilization as well as metrics for supply utilization in specific functional areas: cardiology, surgical services, inpatient medications, laboratory services, and imaging services.

Greenville Health System received the 2015 UHC Supplier Diversity Leadership Award for the development and implementation of an outstanding supplier diversity program.
