LOS ALTOS HILLS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Daughters of Charity Health System (DCHS) and Seton Medical Center today announced that John Ferrelli has been named President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Seton Medical Center.
Mr. Ferrelli, 58, will be responsible for the operations of both Seton Medical Center, located in Daly City, CA and Seton Coastside, located in Moss Beach, CA. Effective immediately, he will replace Joanne Allen, who will be retiring after a successful 19-year career with DCHS. Her last day will be September 18, 2015.
Mr. Ferrelli has more than 25 years of leadership experience encompassing hospital systems, acute care, long-term acute care, and ambulatory centers, primarily in California. Most recently, he served as Chief Administrative Officer at USC Norris Cancer Hospital in Los Angeles.
“John has made significant contributions to health care and the communities in which he has served, and he is exceptionally qualified to lead two of our Northern California health facilities during this time of change for DCHS,” said Robert Issai, President and CEO of Daughters of Charity Health System. “John’s leadership and vision will help ensure a sustainable future for Seton Medical Center and Seton Coastside.”
Mr. Ferrelli’s operational and financial experience includes successful years serving as Corporate Chief Operating Officer and in other leadership roles for Avanti Hospitals, based in El Segundo, CA. Prior to Avanti, he served as President and CEO for JFK Medical Center in Indio, CA, a member of Tenet Healthcare. While there, Mr. Ferrelli’s diligent focus on patient care ultimately led to JFK Medical Center achieving the second highest quality ranking in the 81-hospital Tenet system.
“I am honored to join the Seton team and will work diligently to position Seton for a strong and successful future,” said Mr. Ferrelli. “These are challenging and exciting times, and I look forward to working collaboratively with physicians while supporting clinicians and staff to provide high quality care.”
Issai praised Ms. Allen for her commitment and contributions to DCHS that include leadership roles at Saint Louise Regional Hospital in Gilroy, CA where she served as President and CEO, and at O’Connor Hospital in San Jose, CA where she served as Chief Operating Officer/Chief Strategic Officer. “Joanne’s physician relations skills, her ability to form partnerships with community stakeholders, and her focus on associate and patient satisfaction helped improve the standing and reputation of our health ministries in Northern California. We are deeply grateful to Joanne and wish her all the best in her retirement.”
